Trying to find a decent lvl to farm for Dark Elixir?

I'm at TH7, close to maxing my defences before i can plough my remaining gold into purpling my walls, so in the meantime i thought a secondary focus would be to farm for DE to get my Barb King levelled, however I'm struggling to pick up more than 400-500 DE per raid.Been up as high as 1500 and it doesn't really change very much, and also tried the "lightning spell the storages" trick too but its taking an age to get just the first 12500 for lvl2. I dread to think how much more for lvls 3-5.


Any ideas to make this easier, other than gemming obviously?

Hold off DE farming till th8. DE is much easier at th8, and I didn't see any difference in available DE at th7 and 8.

Just curious, but why is it easier at Town Hall 8?

Surely though, this would then go against the fabled "upgrade everything else before you go to TH8"?

Or does ole' Burger King not count in that?

DE drill+Stronger troops=higher trophies=more DE.

DE troops don't count if you don't use them. Collectors and barracks can also go un-maxed imho

Try 1500+. Lots and lots of DE to lightning/raid.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. Generally speaking, maxing defenses and troops should be the priority - but if you're waiting on upgrades and have excess of gold/elixir, you might as well farm DE so you have less to farm later. While it's easier to farm DE at TH8 (often it comes along with normal raids), it's not very difficult to farm DE at TH7 either as long as you're in the right trophy range. I maxed out my BK at TH7 in a couple of weeks while hanging around 1400-1600 range, but I did have to drop back down to 1100-1300 whenever I needed to farm gold/elixir. One benefit of farming DE at TH7 is that you have loot penalty on your side - you get bonus when you raid TH9 bases for DE, and they won't be able to revenge you for very much at all (50% penalty).

To answer the OP's questions specifically, sounds like you're on the right track. 400-500 DE per raid is actually decent for TH7 - I'm TH8 and usually hang around 1600, and I only see 1,000+ DE raids on rare occasions. Only suggestion I would give is to focus on TH9 (per my earlier post) - if you attack TH8's regularly, you risk getting revenged and lose 180k/180k + 4.5% of your DE; TH9's would only be able to take 100k/100k and 2.5% of your DE - that's a huge difference

Even though level 3 DE drill has a capacity of 450 I find that it has made a huge difference in helping me save DE. I agree it has been easier at TH8
