Why it failed for 11 Light

So a couple thoughts here on why an 11 Light failed you on this base:

1. With 11 Light you need to treat it like a 105. The difference is that instead of looning to backside AD you light it (the one at six) and then bum rush the two ADs that are close together (the ones at 10/2).
2. So you didn't deploy your drags right (should of cut at 1030/130 and drove 12)
3. Looking at the base I would say its more of a 105 Dragoon or a 99 Dragoon as the ADs at 1030/130 are at the extreme of how apart you want them for a 11 light. 11 Light needs them close closer together (like 5 tiles center to center) and easily pathed to for the dragon horde.

So, good thinking, but I would look more at 105 / 99 Dragoon in the future on a base like this.

Thanks so much:) Everytime I get feedback, it gives me a new perspective on each style of dragon attack. I happen to be the only TH8 in my clan that uses different strategies, and it's tough when you mess up balloon deployment during an attack, and someone else waltzes in with 11 dragons and cleans up, lol. I know it's luck some of the time, but that doesn't help your ego, lol.

Wryhorn nailed it. Never, ever, path "long" into ADs (dragon snipe would be an exception, of course, but that's a completely different type of attack). You want them down ASAP, which overwhelmingly means attack straight into them, broadside.

Looking at that base, you could have probably still gone 11-light and smoked it if you attacked from noon. There are no high HP structures in the way and those are AD5 (L3 drags have edge). The army camps make for excellent cutting as well. You'd have like 9 drags pouring straight into the core and no way do AD5s smoke that many drags, that fast...

I would probably go 99, dropping loons behind the drags and they'll make it to those ADs. But, I wouldn't fear doing an 813 on this base either. I'm not sure why you fear it so much, it's probably one of the easiest drag attacks one can do.

With that many loons, you would devastate those remaining ADs with considerable ease and smile as the 3-star cometh

Lunatic, I always love your feedback too. I see it now, the approach I should have taken. I do normally broadside the 2 AD's left, but for some reason I thought the 11 dragons could handle AD54 no matter which direction I sent them in. Lesson learned:)

The two 813 attacks I tried were failures. I have a hard time recognizing WHEN to use the 813 instead of another attack. And, despite watching Wry's videos about 25 times each, I'm never sure of the proper AD to path the balloons to, and deploying them so they go there. I am not good at visualizing the order of defenses the balloons will choose, and once they stray off-target, you're screwed.

No one in my clan is good at dragon attacks, so I mostly go in on a wing and a prayer, hoping I picked the right attack. I would like just ONCE in my life, to 3-star an AD666 base with dragoon. Wry has clanmates that make it look easy:saywhat:

Watch Wryhorn/JTJU Dragon Snipe video. While I'm sure it's not 100% complete, nor updated, the basic ideas likely still apply when to use what attack.

813 used to be my go-to attack when I didn't really know any other way to attack the base. Light the hardest AD and get the remaining ADs with drags and 13 loons. How to do this totally depends on the base though. Sometimes you can, "snipe" an AD, other times you need to drop loons behind the drags and let them do their work.

Note that, as long as the loons are getting defenses close to the AD, even if they miss, that often is okay, as the drags will be left with no choice but to get the AD. The key is to get the ADs down fast. What you don't want is the loons going away from the ADs and going around the base. That's bad

And don't worry about not draglooning AD666. I haven't done it all that much either. I recently executed one of my best attacks ever (my 2nd account, a TH7, using dragloon, downed a ~max defense TH8), but that's extremely rare and I got a little lucky. It went exactly how I planned, which was cool. I just tend to avoid mass drag attacks altogether nowadays (I'm always facing AD666). I overwhelmingly hog bases now, with some GoWiPe or GoWiVa mixed in.

We are working on writeups by attack that will clarify when to use them. I'll post out here when done.

I used 11 light because one ad is placed far away while 2 ads are close to each other but I only got two star 66%. At first I got intimidated by those level 9 archer towers behind those storage but it turned out my dragons wasn't able to go that far. I used 10 minions (as cutters and to take down the builders huts on the corners), 9 dragons, maxed dragon in cc. The attack line I chose is 12 o'clock on the townhall (behind the air sweeper).

I would like to know where did I went wrong on this one
