Because of my layout I have 2 storages of each and my other two extra storages are level 1. I have those to push out the spawn area since I don't really lose any resource from them. It's purely up to your base design.
I'm TH8 using 2 maxed storage as well. Other 2 lv1 storage outside as fodder.
The only upgrade that requires a 3rd storage maxed is Pekka Lv3 upgrade.
I'm going to wait till everything's almost maxed before I look at 3rd storage for pekka lv3 upgrade.
So unless your capping at 4m regularly waiting on builders there is no need for 3rd storage.
Having 3 storages makes it easier to farm for skull walls.
If your total storage capacity is only 4 mil, you have to choose between expensive upgrades and walls when u have a full tank.
Whereas if you are sitting on 6 mil, you can spend on two defense upgrades and walls.
Also, 6 mil elixir allows you to upgrade lvl 3 dragons and DE drill to lvl 3 at the same time.
I'm upgrading my third elixir and gold storage to max level right now. Just because I keep reaching max elixir (4 Million) with nothing to spend it on. I think that after you have upgraded all your splash defenses to max, you should start upgrading your third storage. :rolleyes:
Definitely 3! What's harder (in general) to destroy 2 storages (spread out) or three storages (also spread out). I have 4 storages of each not because I need the extra room but because its that much harder to steal.
Like sandalhat said, whether you choose to have 3 or 2 storages during TH8 depends entirely on how quickly you farm. The defensive capabilities of each choice entirely secondary and almost a non-factor IMO. If you find that you max out with 4 mil gold often before a builder frees up, max the 3rd gold storage. If not, then you are fine with two.

Make compartments and have your wizard towers in range and the goblin horde gets very little.

Well, would you rather lose 60-70k on each storage or 90k-100k? 3 Storages have their advantages too and since you'll be swimming in elixir all the time at th8, you can use the storages like walls... lol
I have almost maxed th 8 (except walls still mostly 7), and I honestly have never swam in elixir...? I do have troops and everything else needing elixir also mostly maxed, so maybe that is the reason. Or I just pick all gold loots, which actually is backed up by my achievements, gold grab has been ready for weeks, while elixir escapade is 9x mil.Quote:
