Loot good/bad who cares - how about gems?
What I would love to see is a graph of gem sales, both total and also averaged over the number of active accounts. You can bet that is the #1 driver behind any coming game modifications. So we all beat each other up here "debating", and none of us has access to any of the real data the will drive the future of the game.
For example, I've spent about $50, but all for boosting. I spend money to keep up with my friends, I can even justify paying 20 cents per hour to play, but I would never just "buy" upgrades. So when loot runs out, I run out. But for all I know, there are people that will just shell out hundreds of $ when there's no loot to be had. I think they're screwing up by turning off the loot, but they may be geniuses. I would really like to know.
