How do you practise with newly unlocked troops for clan wars?

I got lvl 4 hogs a few days back and I will get lvl 3 Pekka in about 9 days. I have been mostly using dragons for clan wars since I reached TH7 with a few hog attacks on bases ripe for it or where giant bomb locations were known due to previous attacks.

But I have had only one 3 star with these lvl 4 hogs out of 4 clan war attacks, which seems low. Obviously, I need to improve and hence practise outside wars. And then I also need to practise Gowipe!

How do you guys practise these expensive but powerful attacks? Only revenge? TH snipe to higher trophy level? Resources won't be a problem as I farm as much as I need to.

When I unlock new troops or want to try a new army comp, I have watched YouTube replays, spent time in the attack strategies SubForum, asked clanmates for pointers and replays, and search for "warlike" bases to attack (normally higher teophy levels).

Not the same as using them in war, but normal raids have helped me understand new unit AIs and their overall strengths weaknesses.

I feel they are all the same, its just a matter of when & where to deploy depending on the base design/level of the opponent.

U can always try and go thru ur list of people who attacked u. Similar to war scenario where u can study the base and plan strategy and troops.

You can ask people in your clan for advice about deploying troops for certain strats in CW.

As someone said - revenge is a great idea if you can get them when they are available. Often you can ask someone in your clan to scout the base with you to discuss an attack.

You also could watch Youtube videos as someone else said. Many of the bases used in clan wars are copies of other common bases.

Normal fight? I find the most loot I can find and raid :D

Or just everynight I will queue the army comp and revenge those TH9 who attack

Thanks guys. Sorry I wasn't able to reply earlier. So basically there are 2 options:

1. If they are not under shield or online try to revenge someone. This would be especially good if someone stole a lot from you.

2. Find some max TH8 or early-mid TH9 with a good amount in his storages and raid him. This might even turn a profit!

Tbh I would just suck it up and try the attacks in clan wars. If your clan has a problem with you trying new strategies then find a new clan. Ooooor hold your second attack and if the war is a blow out in either direction then test out your comp.

I didn't read other responses, but I'm a fanatic Hog user and I will tell you how I use them.

I usually use an army of 33 level 4 hogs, 6 wizards and 26 archers and in my clancastle are 4 level 5 hogs. The capacity of my army camp is 215. and I use 4 healing spells.

As first I vieuw the base - Looking to the corners (are the any builderhuts hided their who could make me to 99% instead of 100% if I forgot them), I watch the range of the clan castle (how can I lure the cc troops out?) and I watch to empty holes.
A th 7 has 2 hidden teslas and 3 Gbombs
a TH 8 has 3 hiden teslas and 4 gbombs (could be also 3, not sure)
A th9 has 4 hidden teslas and 4 gmbombs.

At this point I'm looking at the empy spots inside the base! Are the empty holes? In case of a th 9 with 4 empty spots inside, than there is a huge chance it are 4 teslas and that his giant bombs are outside the base. Than you should be safe, otherwise if it has more empty spots, you should think about using an different army camp, attacking an other base or seperate your hogs like that that they wont be all destroyed when they get hitted by what giant bombs.

Level 4 hogs are awesome, you can do a lot with it.

When I start the attack, I firstly lure the cc troops out. When the castle is centralized, I use hogs to lure them out, when they aren't, than I use archers to lure them out. I guide them too the corner with my archers and than make a circel around it with my archers, so they don't get all killed against a troop with splash damage. Instead needed I place a few wizards.

Than I place 1 hog, to see if the path is giantbomb free, and if that is or the bomb exploded- I will drop all my hogs. (You could also think about placing all hogs like an straight line, next to each other) But I dunno how to explain that in english.

I guide the hogs with healing spells and than after all defenses died, I place all my wizards, archers and heroes left. I seperate them all at a side. So I place my archerqueen and a wizard at the left side, while I place my Barbarian king and 10 archers at the right side. Above and Under I place my wizards, in this way I take care that 6 wizards are not shooting the same building . (What most likely is a waste for time, cuz 2 wizards could have killed already that building, and now 6 wizards are doing the work for 2).
