Beyond Product RED?

I know Product RED is endorsed by Apple and everything, but Supercell should do something for various cancer awareness things, such as prostate cancer and breast cancer (this is just for Clash, not really an app-store wide thing, though that would be cool.) Instead of having a shield on your TH, why not just give the player a flag that lasts forever as a symbol of your contribution + generosity? (This goes for Product Red too) Or, why not just include that a person donated on their profile?

Other ideas include:
Something like "Toys for Tots" or something like that, providing something for those that do not have the fortunes that others have been bestowed.

Ebola. I know many have been making jokes about it but Ebola is a serious problem in West Africa and trying to help stop it would make everything.

Reduction of global poverty, donation to a company and then that company sends food and all to countries that need it.

Victims of natural disaster: I don't know if Clash of Clans has done something like it before for victims of hurricanes like Haiyan in the Philippines, or even later in history (i don't think clash existed) the Japan earthquake. Should such a tragedy befall a region in the world, we can help donate.

It doesn't have to be a charity to donate some money to a good cause...

Well what is stopping you from donating right now? Why does Supercell has to persuade you with their goodies if you really care about all of this.

Because normal donations to charity don't give you gems :D

Well I mean, I'm not in age of majority so my way of getting gems is through gift cards, and so donating my gifts is pretty good, don't you think?

I doubt he's just talking about himself... This (PRODUCT)RED event has probably raised loads of money already from other people who wouldn't have donated otherwise, and he can't persuade them to donate more money to other charities himself. :)

From SC themselves. Idk why, but its the only explanation thus far that comes remotely close to what you are asking. If you wanted to make a larger donation, you could just donate directly.

Overhead for digital premium currency is fairly consistent, whether you buy $5 or $100 pack.

As a marketing scheme, this is to drive up some sales while being able to put a RED label on your company for the publicity. They can deduct their expenses then donate the scraps.

If they offered the $100 pack, that's more money they would have to put into the charity.

Don't be fooled, they are doing this for the publicity not for the charity.

They could easily just say "For the next 7 days, we will donate every dollar spent on gems to Global Fund." if they TRULY cared about donating to a good cause. Skip out ALL the middlemen. This is a marketing campaign to help sell their products while getting a pat on the back for being socially conscious.

THIS IS A FOR PROFIT GAME ! DONT FORGET THAT
Though occasional fundraisers and donations can happen through games, it is not a primary source of funding and shouldnt be expected to do so past an occasional one like this one.

Exactly.

Think about it this way.

More events like this=more publicity
More publicity=more people playing the game
More people playing the game=More money going to Supercell.
Supercell gets publicity, charities get money to fund research.

This is a win-win.
