No right or wrong answer, as I find it really depends on their placement and placement of other defences.

Also depends on what league you are defending.

For my base 2 are down, 1 up. Due to the placement of my other aerial defences I find one up is enough to cover my air space. The other 2 are down to get a hold of enemy heroes faster.

Depends on layout and league, such a vague poll is meaningless. Best to see how your base does with them down and ask yourself whether up would have been better, also remember that you get a total of three that don't all have to be the same.

Interesting aspects on ground only. I only think of them as a pair and didn't think about when you had three at th10. That would be a factor that has to be thought of too. As a th9 I'd say both but if you're solid against air attacks maybe do both ground.

Totally depends on league and base design.

An easy way to decide, do you get hit with air a lot? If no and you have centralized air defense, then go ground.

I used to have ground mode only until the balloonion nation attacked...

Compact base = air/ground
Spread base = ground

I have two of mine pointed to ground only and one pointed to air and ground so I get some of those pesky loons but don't lose the range with the ground ones :)

Ground and Air, rather have air protection than a slightly larger range.
