Town Hall 8: By the Numbers
Hey guys, i decided to make this thread to help out possible new th8'ers or just anyone looking for the facts about the defense levels in town hall 8 and their prices. I will only discuss the main defenses ei how much they cost and what i think you should upgrade first based on the prices and the effect they have on a battle.
Note that i am assuming you maxed th7 so i will only mention levels that are unlocked at th8.

IMO, the order of upgrade for defenses in th8 should look like this:
1.) WIZARD TOWER- wizard towers will have the greatest effect on a battle when it comes to th8 v th8. they mow down any large number of troops, air or ground, that are packed close enough. Barch, BAM, and BAG attack strategies will be ineffective if you max these bad boys early and place them correctly in your bases to cover all your storages.
2.) MORTAR- same reason as the wizard tower, accept that the mortars have a slower fire rate and do alot more damage against the Barch combos, especially when a bunch of archers are in the same spot focusing in on one building. Mortars are even more important now with lvl 7 Barch armies and the fourth mortar unlocked here at th8.
3.) AIR DEFENSE- mass dragons, i think, are the most popular attacks used at th8 and for good reason. most people neglect the air defenses and it leaves pretty much any fool with lvl 2 or 3 dragons to completely destroy your base, unless...... YOU MAX YOUR AIR DEFENSE, it will take a lot more experienced clasher to take down 3 lvl 6 air defenses. they will also help later in th9 when people start to use a lvl6 balloon mixture.
4.) HIDDEN TESLAS- most people in the game have decent hidden teslas, most of the time around lvl 4 at th8, but getting these guys maxed will help out a ton. the fact that these guys bring one of the best damage capabilities and combined with the element of surprise will throw off an attack that could have been 3 stars with out them, especially if there is pekkas involved.
5.) Archer Towers/Cannons- im not a big fan of these guys, but they will help non the less at lvl 10. they are best used to take down giants and avoid letting wallbreakers run right through your base.
i didnt mention walls because you should just be upgrading them along the way whenever there is only one builder not being used (make sure there is never a moment when all builders are being used at once!!!) and you have some leftover loot.
Please rember that the second part of this thread is all in my perspective, and what i think would work best. there are, of course, a thousand ways to skin a cat and if you think your way is better, that is for you to decide.
