i just go up to crystal 3.. anything higher is really better in de but you need to spend better troops.
barching in crystal 3 is ok. the amount in de and gold is really good and there are a lot of th8. which you can pawned.
well i am not a great de hunter and i am just a normal player.
but i do have some rules. like if the lootable de is already 1k. even other resources are pretty low. i would still loot it even elix is lost or break-even. since i loot 60k/60k/1k de bases. even if cups are lost.
barch in crystal 2-3 if you can raid in long sessions. the loot bonus per win will eventually stack up. :D Sometimes I go with Giant-archer-gobs to hit centralized DE storages.
If you can master farming DE efficiently with Barbarians, Archers, and Minions, then that is the fastest method of gaining DE. As it is also the fastest way to get army ready. The other strategies that utilize Giants and Balloons are more geared towards casual farmers or constant boosters, as they are time consuming.

I barch with rage spells in the high gold 2 to high gold 1 range, works well for me. (Im new to DE hunting though)
if you can balloonion successfully in masters you will have de overflowing, in 6 weeks playing 2 hours barracks boost most days have completed 1 mill de loot, constant hero and lab upgrades, loons get to the core where most de is held and minions pick it off while loons take the heat, be selective in bases, look for low level infernos or xbows pointed to ground to improve chances otherwise you need too many spells to succeed and you will run out of elixir, gold is plentiful too 2-3 mill gold per 2 hour session without trying focussing on de loot and making sure elixir is status quo
I use GBArch to farm DE at C1.
No luck in M3 - most of the DE storages are protected by Infernos.

Barch in G1. I look for 800+ (less if resources are scarce) 104 archers 108 barbs 4wbz, sometimes i'll boost queen as she is the ace in the hole for barch de farming. If I boost mah barracks it's easy to net over 10k in a session

The majority of your barch will cook whilst raiding then when you return cancel the barch training and stack again
I'm a maxed TH9 (except for walls and heroes).
I'm farming in C2 with Balloonion. I aim for 1500 DE but often score 2500 DE bases as well.
AQ at 16 and BK at 14 right now, they are constantly being upgraded.

If you don't make it to the DE storage but get close use the minions you have to test the right spot to drop for pathing and to clear red bombs, then pop the CC to hammer the DE storage.
