They say nothing about how that effort was spent. You seem to think there is only one way to play the game and if you play it different you deserve to get screwed.
No, I said playing the game means being active on all three fronts. Farming, upgrading and battling. If someone is sitting there doing nothing but farm and level up, then yes they deserve to be pillaged. There is a battle aspect in the game because its meant to be played. No matter how you word it, it's still meant to be played. So play it, and upgrade your ♥♥♥♥. If not, go play FarmVille.....

No, again; if,you're not playing the full game, then you're not playing the game. Upgrading your clan and battling others is part of the game. If not, there are plenty of other games to suit the virtual farmers. Especially considering this game is advertised to be more than just that......
How is that punishment? Again, different people play differently and have different strengths. You should never end up in a situation where the upgrades you select cause you to dig a hole you cannot get out of.
It's punishment because someone like me is working on all aspects of the game. I farm, upgrade and battle. I logged the hours, and now anyone with a much higher level, higher troops, and troop capacity can just come in and pillage me. All they have to do is keep their trophies low. When in reality they should be competing against each other for more trophies, and wait till I am in their league......
No because with an incentive system in place that makes trophy collecting valuable, people that gain more trophies will be properly rewarded for doing so.
There was an incentive for trophies, it was called the leader board. Now the only people who give a damn about the board are those that have been in it. Everyone else is now just dumping trophies to pillage those below them. I am not saying the first system wasn't flawed, but this one is just as flawed. If not worse, seeing as I can't get above 1100 in trophies now.
So apparently you don't see the difference between a cheat or a hack and legitimate game play that puts you in a position different from the rest of people.

or maybe I was saying it doesn't matter. People will cheat, changing the match making to the new system won't stop that. Go after the hackers and ban their devices. I don't care, but to make a worse system that does nothing to prevent this and is adding fuel to the fire. Asinine.....
Because this sets up a bunch of cases that are contrary to what you are attempting to achieve with level based matching. Note the case I described above which you compared to a cheat or hack.
No it doesn't, if you give incentive to upgrade your base while leveling up and gaining trophies. You have a cap on who you can attack and that way no one gets pillaged by those way too advanced for them. If someone wants to level up the easy way, then they pay the price. I don't want to hear "that's how you play the game and that's how I play the game". There aren't different ways to play the game, and all games have the same objective. To win and be the best. Anyone who isn't playing for that reason should try solitaire......
People will stop donating troops because donating troops gives you experience. Experience gives you levels and gaining levels under your system makes the game harder. Anything you do that isn't a base upgrade will make your game harder with absolutely no gain. Plenty of clans will simply abandon the concept of troop donation entirely.
People will always continue to donate troops. Regardless of their reasons to do so, it's kind of a necessity in the game. They not only are nice to have as back up as you attack, but prove a valuable assets to protect your base. Also, those that do not donate will find it very hard to remain in any clan.
Pretty much EVERY video game system is setup this way. As you progress, your opponents naturally progress. This is called a challenge, and if people know this they won't waste their and our time doing one thing on this game. It's a multitasking type of game, which is what appeals to me. I believe is what appeals to most, yes it has its farming and downtime aspect. Yet, it also has the battle part and social aspect. You think they put these in the game to be ignored? Or some people should be able to ignore them, while others are actually trying to advance?
Theres no challenge in farming and donating and leveling up. Especially as you get higher and your troops take longer. This games not about just farming, it is so much more than that.
As you upgrade, your capacity for gaining trophies should go up. Whether or not that makes the matches easier is up to you. Again you are stuck on saying things should work a certain way because you say so.
Again, I am not arguing that your trophy wins and loses should be based on the trophy count. I am saying basing the trophy count to gauge ones opponent is massively flawed. As we have all seen.....
Simply not true. The troops required for attacking are much more expensive and time consuming to build at higher levels than lower ones. This means people with weaker bases can afford to build more troops in less time and attack more often. Without the threat of attacks from higher levels, they would rise through the ranks unchecked.

Yes better and higher level troops take longer, but people who have those also have better bases. Let them attack me more often, if they are so low level. With such low troops I would destroy them. They wouldn't be able to rise at all actually. It would be pretty embarrassing for them after a while and they would play the game correctly.
And let them sit there and level up through donations. This would be extremely time consuming, and their base and resources and trophies would suffer for it. They would eventually start playing correctly.....
No it won't. If you can only battle people of the same level you will simply not be able to earn enough resources to make up the cost of attacking. You seem to be ignoring the fact that at a certain point only PEKKAs, dragons, and rage spells will work. Getting pillaged costs you at most 180k. I'd much rather get pillaged for 180k every time my shield is up then only to be able to extract small amounts of resources at great cost a couple of times a day.
Then one needs to upgrade and move through the game properly. If the cap was five higher and five lower to me right now. I would be completely fine. Between upgrading my own mines, and pumps. I could get at least 100-200k gold and 250k elixir easily from a couple raids a day. Then add that to what I extract myself. This would be more than sufficient for anyone to achieve advancing in the rankings. You basically want all the skill taken out of the game. I don't see the issue here......
