OP...If you aren't convinced yet, it's a really bad idea, especially if you try to raid others' loot. It would definitely help inactive players who rely on collector income, though. But since that obviously wouldn't work to SC's advantage, it will never happen.

Doesn't seem like it'd take long to do this. In gold/crystal, I get a shield in less than 10 minutes usually. I'd rather lose next to no resource at the cost of doing this rather than losing +400k gold and elxir, not that I can even remember the last time all of my storages broke

I think they should set the refund amount to around 71.75%.

Or until you log off and become available for matchmaking. Ifyou're online you can't wr attacked anywaya so loot you have doesnt matter.
