Starting to upgrade additional troops, Suggestions for War Compositions needed

Hey everyone!

I am just working through the grind of TH8 and needed some input from the community. For the past several wars, I have been using Mass Dragon with 3 Star results on TH8 and I can usually get 1 to 2 stars on the TH9s. But as I am spending my valuable time farming resources to keep my builders busy, it is very expensive to use this comp for two attacks.

I am just looking for input on some alternatives that I can use. My next troop upgrade is Wiz to Lvl 5 and the only upgrades I have done so far for this TH level are Archers (LVL5), Drags (LVL3) and just finishing Hogs (LVL 2). Everything requiring regular elixir for TH7 is maxed so any suggestions are helpful!

A th8 gowipe can be pretty devastating, and a little easier elixir wise than mas dragons. That said hogs can still be good against the right base, as well as giants and wizards. At th8 against other th8's or lower th9's all of these options are available to you.

Are you winning these wars? Because with the increased war loot you should at least be making back the cost of your army, especially if you are hitting TH9s.

Either way, get your giants and wiz to lvl 5 and then you can do giants wiz. I'll warn you its not as likely to 3 star as mass dragon, but it's an alternative that's cheaper.

We disbanded our last clan and started a new one a couple weeks ago. We are currently 6-2 so I am bringing in between 500 and 700K in Elixir for each win. It does cover the cost of the dragons but as I am trying to be efficient, an effective lower cost army would be great. At least something I can start practicing with now and slowly work into the rotation.

I think its wiether you want to do something quick and helpful at your current TH(hogs) or if you want to do something that takes longer but ultimately a better pay off(Gowiwi and Gowipe). When you get to higher TH the most important upgrades will be golem,pekka,witch and freeze.

Gowipe is an excellent war/trophy pushing strat at TH8.... when your whizz finish lvl5, I'd consider upgrading Pekka, then you can use a fairly decent gowipe to get 3 stars against TH8, and take some big chunks out of TH9.... If you want go that route, I would do pekka first, then golem when you get the chance......

Honestly to win consistently, you won't profit much if at all in lixir during war. Just go barch a couple of times to make it up and keep being an asset to your clan in war.

For TH8 you need to attack with either Mass dragons (3 lightning or 2 rage 1 heal) and some black balloons in the cc or a gowipe with only 1 golem and 3 pekkas (could also use 4 pekkas) 2 golem is not really needed in my opinion and you can also mass hogs it all depends on the opponents layout

If you have lvl 5 wizards you could invest in Pekkas and use a WiPe army. Generally 20 wiz, 10 wbs and 4 pekkas. CC either an additional Pekka, 3 valks, 2 witches will do the trick. 2 rage 1 heal. It works out to be cheaper than mass drags and I find a lot more consistent.
