A Big Thank You to SC for the Elixir to wall update.

​A lot people do not like this update. I adore it. This update has saved me so many hours of farming over and over again to get my walls done.

I am TH9, who now has his walls maxed (Completed them late Friday Night) still got 3 months plus play to max all buildings and hopefully both heros before going to Th10.

Yes I played a lot 10-12 hours a day. I am grown up and at this stage of my life was happy to play the game for that time.

I got a third done without boosting at all. I then slowly started to boost. I was then using a giant/healer army. I boosted 1 barracks mainly for my 2 healers.

I was happy with what I was making, but I got told compared to barching I was not making a lot. I then tried barching boosting all 4 barracks to start with. Insane amount attacks per hour. After a bit I realized boosting all 4 was not the wisest plan of action. I only boosted 2 barracks given me 10 attacks per hour. I was making on average 4-5 mill profit per 2 hours session. some might say this bad. I was happy with this. 200-250 boosted session with 2 barracks to do you walls as a TH 9. I think that reasonable. Loot sometimes was really good would get 2 mill profit in 4-5 raids in 20-30 min. I had a few them. I also had a few periods where u went no where. Not too many though. On whole i was happy with the loot I got.

A few facts on breakdown of my walls

On update I had 2 Lavas and 32 Legos

After update 105 Legos done with Gold and 111 with Elixir
After update 138 Lavas done with Gold and 110 with Elixir

In the total after update 519 Mill (54.06%) with gold and 441 Mill (45.94%) done with Elixir. I used 4470 of my own gems for boost and 405 gem for build time on AQ ( DE was maxed). I spent 24.36£ of my own money to save a lot of hours farming time. I was really happy to do this as well, before I get called all sorts of names.

A lot of you might be blaming the so called loot problems onto Elixir for Wall Update. It not the main reason for this problem. Some of it can be blamed onto it. Because up-to now I did not hold a lot of gold or elixir. I kept a builder free and feed my walls, making sure I kept enough behind to do further builds, research and kept enough to build troops and hit the next button

yes too I like to use elixir to upgrade walls especially lvl 8+. You need both resources to do them as fast as possible.

You are amazing. I have whatever amount of walls in my signature. And I'm only be able to turn it to 114 skulls, 112 lego and 24 lava at this point. Is barcher that good? I tried barcher a few time but it's... too hard for me. I keep seeing storage raids, with good amount of DE, and I can stop myself of attempting the raids. Well, I obviously fail, so I turn back to Giants Healer style, where I can earn about 400k resources total in one raids, plus some DE, or something 1k-2k5 DE.

We start playing around the same time. I got to TH9 a little before you. And I thought that I was improve quick :( I got all my defense max, though.

Im glad you can use elixir on walls now too, i just finished upgrading all my th9 defences and only have walls, heroes and traps left, will make it much easier to do walls now, plus i wont have max elixir constantly like i did when i was th8.

Yes the nexting can even get to me sometimes. I know after 4 min of nexting any target with 80-100 k combined is getting hit. My next troops will be ready when I get back to village. Keep the good work and tr your best to max walls and heros. Will help us both when we get to TH10

Barching or BAMing look like the quickest way to get good gold/elixir per hour. I use mainly barch with a few minions and WB's. Worked well for me getting all the gold/elixir I needed for my walls. It also got enough DE to get my Heros to level 16. Now mainly going after DE whilst I complete the rest of my buildings and heros for a TH9. I did not get my last builder until June. I played upto 3-4 weekes ago without buying gems. Brought the biggest pack and still got 2/3 nearly left. Money well spent on looking at the hours it saved raiding for walls.

I think most from Th 8 on-wards would wasted millions of elixir prior to the update. Hopefully you will get most done before you get to Th10 in the future.

Lets you look at targets differently. In the past if you were wall grinding you would only look a gold. Now you can look at gold+ Elixir and add both together You now can hit more then you could before the update. You now can save most probably third of the time you used to walls before update.

Yes, 'surplus' elixir does not really exist anymore; but was that necessarily a bad thing?

I just look at how I raided then, and how I raid now.

Previously, I would use more 'balanced' armies. Switching between Barch, BAM, Loonion & Giant, WB based armies.

Now?

Never anything other then Barch or BAM because 1) there isn't as much elixir to raid to help fund the bigger armies and 2) I feel like I'm wasting opportunity to get more walls.

While yes, elixir does not get 'wasted' anymore; I think it is bad for raiding variety.

I have a few question for you if you don't mind:

- Which range of cup do you barch?
- Do you hit storage at all, or just collectors raids?
- How much loot a base need to has for you to attack it? (collectors/storage)
- Do you use Heroes? If you do, how important are Heroes in your attacking plan?
- How much DE do you often get per day (I know you don't purposely go for DE, but I just want an estimate)
- Do you use spell? How often? Which spell do you bring?
- Combination of troops. Do you thrown in some wbs? Or just Barch mainly with a few (aroudn 10 Minions)
- Your building "formular" for the barrack- what do you put on the two that you boosted.

Too much question, I guess. However, I just want to learn to Barch from a "newly sucessful" so I can apply it. I read a lot of barch guide on the forum. It's all good but for some reason I couldn't apply it. Maybe I was in the wrong cup range.

I did roughly half my walls with a giant/healer/WB army. Because back i was not boosting took 4 hogs and 8 minions just to help with the speed to build it. Back then my army cost 100k plus and more if i used a healing spell, I still made a good profit on elixir. I like my giant/healer I used 3 star most Th8 and a few TH9 and get all the loot. The lack of elixir did not make go barching, it was fact I could make nealry twice as much gold/elixir per hour profit.I am not even great barcher. I could 50% most of the bases I hit, but was never good at getting deep into bases for storage's. That would come with practice in the end.

-I ended up barching from 1900-2150 roughly, but with the crystal 3 badge.
- I would hit storages if behind one wall quite easily. behind 2 I would tend to give a lot of them miss. Most would be collectors raids, but would sometimes get a few of their storage's.
- I had 6 min window to my attack. If would hit a base with 200 k total if a lot nexting straight away. If loot was good would gamble and hit next hoping to hit a 400k plus. A few times I would regret that decision. Closer I get 4 min I would hit an easy 80-100k knowing my next troops would be built on return village. Plus I was getting 70k league bonus.
- been upgrading both heros for last 4-5 weekes. They are real asset in raiding if you got them. If avaible use at end for 50% or AQ to get a storage if practical.
I used to get 8-10k DE profit, without even going after it. If I found a big Th 10 with 3 full level 6 drills. I would hit even for no gold or elixir profit. Would zap De storage's or drills if player had TH trapped or i thought they were no longer playing.
- Spells. Will get the anti zapping squad onto me now. Used 4 lightning spells. Mainly to get 50% if needed or they trapped their TH and had good DE I would zap. If De hunting better spells to carry then lightning, like 2 rage 2 healing.
- I had 6 WB and around 12 minions. Would use WB to open walls up with barbs taken fire. Minions I would use to take out Heros, CC troops and help archers with Wizz Towers. Late would use to help get 50% or more resources. I would try and have rest half and half barbs and archers.
- used to boost barracks 1 and 2. one made archers other barbs. 3 and 4 unboosted and one making archers and other barbs. If I WB would make them in boosted barb barracks. if no WB used would make 6-8 archers in boosted barb barracks to level numbers slightly.

I now going mainly after DE. Will try barching and my back up plan is Gibarching. (14 giants, 12 WB, 56 archers, 44 barbs and 26 Gobs). I have spoken to a few who can make 20k plus DE per boosted session.

I ope this helps a bit. The league bonus in Crystal 3 helps loads. Plus with 2 barracks boosted you are looking at 10 raids per hour.

10 to 12 hours a day doesn't work for most people. But good job. Lavas are hard. Starting them now.

Only had the time becuase I am between jobs. Otherwise maybe 2-4 hours a day on a work day and serious raiding on day off.

Wait till you are th10 and have to barch for months to get all the lix needed for the troops and upgrades.

I hate barching because it gets boring after 8 th levels.

Yeah, that is the part I dislike.

It is a nightmare for fresh TH10s. Loot is harder there than any other hall as it is; and now you have to find it in a climate where elixir is no longer abundant. As if early TH10 wasn't painful enough.

It is odd that despite been the highest hall in the game, you feel like you need to master the most very basic of troops to survive.

In what league did you stay?

I'm usually in gold II and even with all rax boosted I'm often happy to make 1mil per hour...

I am quite lucky only barched for around 3 to 4 weekes. I was basically told what I was getting with my giant healer army was quite poor compared to barching. So I tried barching. Still new to it and got a lot more to learn about it.

Will see if any good taken it to next level and DE storage raid with it or if i will go the gibarch way.

At the moment around the third of my raids are against Th9 and Th10. So I will be able to still hit them as a Th10. I am still 3 months away from Th10. Lots can change by then with the game by the time I get to Th10.

Only been a Th9 since August. For last 5/6 weekes had 1 builder free just to do my walls. In between jobs and just made sense to smash my walls out. Just come of the British Army after 24 years. Maxing the rest and my heros hopefully to close to max DE raiding permitting. Got over 3 months still to go. Wall grind done now an mainly go after DE. Still need 88 mill gold and 33 mil elixir for rest of upgrades. I was lost the weekend. I had my DE maxed and did 2 raids only and my 2 war hits. BK upgrades later today.

I used to as a new Th9 stay in G3 long time ago. I am now in C3 ( been for last 3-4 weekes) and with 35k/35k/100 loot bonus makes barching quite usable. In a 2 hour session with 2 barracks boosted make normally 2.5 mill gold and 1.8 mill elixir with 8-10k DE a bonus.

Got lined up next week fingers crossed. Just waiting my criminal record check to come back and got my test this Wednesday.

Played lots games in the past. I tend to put a very little money into them and a lot time. Wife nags me loads. Normally a bit of money if used well makes the game a lot more enjoyable. Had a easy weekend. Did my 2 wars hits and 2 raids. My wanted me playing in the end hehe.

Yep prefer having walls done 3 months early then 3 months of wall grinding with 5 idle builders at the end.
I had my other 4 builders working non stop and if one was becoming free would get the 5th one working a few hours earlier.

Will be nice easy 3 months with a bit power raiding for DE mainly.

Is this a troll? The update just made walls less of an accomplishment and more of a "screw the economy" kind of thing.

Bases having less elixir and more walls......

It's a fail update and I'm sure they have already lost more money than they have gained from no lifers 12 hour boosting every day to build walls.

Yet again I am confused. Most people say loot hard to come by. So I now rate doing my walls to max as a mayor accomplishment.

TH9's can max their walls?

Why did nobody tell me? I thought that it was a bad move that has adversely affected farming and trophy pushing, I had no idea that certain TH9's could manage to upgrade their walls quicker. After all, that is all that matters.

I understand a lot people not happy with the update. I will respect their opinion. I still managed to raid 400 mill plus elixir I put into my walls. On top buildings, lab and troops and spell cost. I did not have that much difficulty finding elixir on TH 8 and 9 to raid.

Raiding collectors is by and large the most efficient strat to max your base, so I have not really noticed much difference. Plus not everyone dumps it all into walls, they need it for troop upgrades and stuff, sure they need gold more than elix so are more likely to dump elix over gold, but overall it isnt that bad.

Look we agree on something. I do not believe I only started to barch 2 months into Th9. I did enjoy my giant/healer days. Barching is fun and still got so much more to learn about it.

Elixir for walls update was a giant leap into the dark... which just hasn't worked for the majority. To give lower-level TH's a step up making the elixir cost twice that of gold might have lessened the impact and maybe that should still be considered? There's no shame in rolling back decisions that haven't worked out.

As a TH10 I used to have great results farming/raiding around 2800 and I've been searching for a new sweet spot between 2750 and 3450. The results is in: No bases have elixir anymore, everyone is scraping the bottom of the barrel

Personally, I have not upgraded all my barracks and troops to be stuck attacking with tier 1 armies as that's all that can be sustained.

In Champs I have 2 attacks that I enjoy doing... Gowipe/wiwi and Lavaloonian for air. Even after the win bonus increase (which I'm thankful for and was a definite step in the right direction) it's a long-winded and joyless process finding any bases that can make those break even.

I have no interest in barch or 240 archer attacks. They can work for 1-star collector raids but they aren't fun, and are no more than a distraction.

So on the whole I wouldn't thank them for this update, it's verging on game-breaking and most of my clan feel the same. I'm hanging in there in the hope that they sort it out as I think they know that it was a mistake.

Agree, army versatility took a huge blow with this update.

I have not used anything outside of Barch / BAM / BAG with a small compliment of WBs since the update. It would just be stupid to do so. Less storage elixir to raid for; and now I need to keep raising elixir for walls.

Doing anything else would be inefficient. Using Loons / Giants / Dragons etc didn't feel inefficient before because you never had to stress about elixir - which made raiding more fun and flexible.

I understand long term the need for elixir drops. And such an update puts a premium on it again.

But the price is versatility is dead. Barch / BAM / BAG for life, or fall behind. Is that what you really want SuperCell? For us to ignore the other dozen or so troops in the game to use just those 4 instead?

Honestly unless elixir costs for other troops dropped I'm not using them again.

I thought this last trophy push, hey, my elixir is finally maxed after slowly growing it from barching 50% for two weeks. I stupidly spent some elixir on a wall segment, it was an electric wall... Now I have to wait an extra week at least to max it out for the lab upgrade in 2 days. I thought I could grow it faster. I cannot.

Bad decision for me.

I really am glad lower townhalls can make level 9 and lower walls easier.. I do see elixir poor bases all over in masters and champs now due to the update and this really kills big troop donations. I liked being able to not think twice about donating max pekkas to my clanmates to help them with their push. Now i can only donate a few wiz in between armies or my elixir doesnt grow. And it needs to grow as I have quite a few 8mill elixir upgrades still to do...

A good compromise is to make only elixir over X amount usable for walls so elixir cannot be run to zero.

I am in your shoes too. Farming level 9 walls at TH 9 atm. I only use elixir for walls when I have above 3Mil. Still need CW elixir and I won;t always profit. But I agree.

- used to boost barracks 1 and 2. one made archers other barbs. 3 and 4 unboosted and one making archers and other barbs. If I WB would make them in boosted barb barracks. if no WB used would make 6-8 archers in boosted barb barracks to level numbers slightly.

I now going mainly after DE. Will try barching and my back up plan is Gibarching. (14 giants, 12 WB, 56 archers, 44 barbs and 26 Gobs). I have spoken to a few who can make 20k plus DE per boosted session.

I ope this helps a bit. The league bonus in Crystal 3 helps loads. Plus with 2 barracks boosted you are looking at 10 raids per hour.
