lv8 walls are even much more expensive and only take 2 wall breakers to bomb it(the same as lv6 and lv7) and it only gain 500 hit point from lv7 (the same as lv6->7)
Gold comes fairly easy as you build up. I struggled early on, but I don't find the walls all that onerous now.
