I would never check the forums well mine were boosted. Would be watching TV or something between attacks... Maybe talking to the clan.

I barely look away from the device during a boost! I train the next Barch army while I'm attacking, and its usually done by the time I'm done attacking. Gotta be careful with my heroes though.
I use to boost when you could raid and find decent bases to raid.
Now its not worth dropping the gems.
