First two weeks, we get ready ourselves and post our submission.
3rd week, voting
fourth week, results published.

Then the week after the fourth, same thing happens again.

Since the Committee came in, I was hoping to give the last week to get the committee sorted for the next competition which starts Week 5/the start of the month. Or having the 3 week cycle will confuse people...
My version would look something like this:

Day 1: Notification sent to ALL those in that competition.
Week 1: Entries start filling in...
Week 2 & 3: Voting starts, no more entries.
Week 4: Committee plans next comp and Results released whenever possible in the week...

Would this work?? It'd make 2 jobs at once though....

How about half half? 3 weeks, 7 days a week.

3 x 7 = 21 days

so half half would be 10.5 days of entries and 10.5 days of voting. Simply open up the entry thread in the middle of a day. After that day, 10 more days

then voting starts at the exact same time entries began. Then that day is over, 10 more days and ....

Will this do?


Day 1: All artists in that competition get notified about the thread via PM/VM.
Week 1 and 2: Entries fill the museum. (A closed thread ATM)
Week 3: Museum thread opens and Voting is permitted.
Week 4: The Committee generates new ideas for the next competition and posts results.

And yeah, the committee needs that 1 week for a lot of replacing and all. That's why there's 6 of them (excluding Daddy) to share the work.

But if the 3rd comp comes out, it should contain better prizes.

No it won't. In fact, it'd be encouring new gfxers. If the prize is higher in the advanced, then they'll keep practising until they qualify for it and know they have a chance of winning, then join the advanced competition, and by that time, he/she will be a professional in our forum.

But if it's only one winner, they will lose hope in placing.

Personally I think we should only do prizes for first and have begginners be less than advanced. This will inspire people to do better therefore making it so there are more people who are expirienced and have good work. But hey, this is just my 2 cents.

Begginer: 450
Advanced: 650
Not too high not too low but still enough to do something with.

You guys are taking the details too far... we should get the basic system down , whos gonna run it etc... if Daddy approves ALL OF THIS then he can appoint the Committee and THEN he can talk to supercell about the prizes but I think we should worry about the prizes later.

This is what's been suggested so far:
Great shoutout to everyone who took down ideas and debated alongside each other for a long time to still be indecisive on plans :rolleyes: But from the Cold War, we derive the following.

We require a new sub-forum for Competitions... where only Moderators/Staff and the Committee Members can post. Why should Committee members have the privilege you may ask? So the Staff doesn't have to be the busiest people around and keep running endlessly per day...

At the start of next month, we hit off with the beginner and intermediate competition. For the first comp, you get to choose where you want to participate in, you CAN'T ENTER BOTH! The comp will run for one month, following into the 2nd Comp next month. The COMMITTEE will try to fit people into different categories and perhaps provide a schedule/list with all the preparations needed to know. Including proper rules of each competition like Panda stated before: Max Size: 500 x 300 (THIS IS AN EXAMPLE SIZE!!!) and many more rules.

You must be wondering what is this Committee anyways... it's a group...
This COMMITTEE will consist of people who aren't actually participating, around 7 people at least/most. Daddy + 3 GFX Artists + 3 Non-Artists are the selected types of people for this Committee. They will decide experience of people based on a few of the artist's works. Then a list will be given out and people will be notified each stage of the comp. No corruption or biased people must be allowed in as it will ruin the competition; this committee is chosen by Daddy.

This is the exact order the Comp should run:
Day 1: All artists in that competition get notified about the thread via PM/VM.
First 10.5 Days: Entries are allowed in. You'll be told EXACTLY when entries close so you don't have problems. The entries pile up in the Museum - a Closed thread ATM.
Second 10.5 Days: Voting begins as soon as the Museum thread is opened.
Remaining Days of the Month: The Committee prepares the next

When the Committee feels ready (Dependent on the amount of participation in both comps) there'll be another comp for the Experts added. This comp can be removed any time due to the lack of entries...

Finally, the winners are based on the amount of votes their work receives... Since no CnC or showing others is allowed before the results are out for that comp, the work is not going to anonymous...
Meaning you won't know who you're voting on, therefore making it less biased.
Other than the Committee and the Staff, no one is allowed to post a thread. But they can reply. Their votes will be in a thread that starts off closed but opens up when time comes.

The prizes are also gifted by SuperCell in the form of Gems. Both comps shall be treated equally and therefore have the same amount of gems:
*1st Place: 500 Gems
*2nd Place: 350 Gems
*3rd Place: 200 Gems

That's all this community got to planning. If the ideas keep building, some writer like me will post another update.

That leaves 2 gfx artist spots and 3 non gfx artists.

Depends mainly on Daddy to choose tho but Id rather help than participate in competitions <3 Helping > Winning helping pleases me more for some reason (dont ask)

So the question is - what would the community like the competition to look like? What would be fair?

I see a few things we could do....

A themed competition where the mods/SC set the topic that is related to SC games
A "best signature" competition
A competition in some way related to the forum.

What I am very unsure about is the varying skill levels on the forum I don't want to discourage people who are still learning from entering - we could perhaps do beginners, intermediate and advanced comps but how do we define who is in what category?

So let's use this thread to work together to find some ideas - if we can't get consensus the mods will make a decision by the weekend based on the reasonable comments left :)

Amazing idea!!! I have an idea, like GFXresource, if you win the competition over 5 times you cannot join the level of competition again, but it isn't for advanced where everyone can join for as many times as they want.

ya. I wanna be in the committee as well, this competition is a waste for me since i quit clash, so even if i win, its pointless and a waste of a tag

Guys this is heartwarming to see you guys working together on this and thanks Germ for keeping a summary going.

I'll keep this thread open for the weekend then discuss with the mods - looking at the enthusiasm everyone has for this project i'm quite stoked about running this.

I do think each category competition needs to be a week long at max though - a month is a LONG time on the internet.

LOVE the idea of doing the beginner then the intermediate and culminate with expert - and forgive me if this has been suggested but why don't we then have a vote on the top three for each category as kind of a grand finale?

I give up, cbs reading it all lol. Got to about page 25 :p Designing my first GFX in weeks... Can't wait till this is all set up! Also, for judging who's 'pro' and who's not, we can have a mini competition series and the winners get placed in the advanced group- this could solve the problem rather than experience, age, when you started, etc. Just a suggestion.
