Part 1: Troops. All troops are Robots. There is a factory/storage area below the players village, the barracks are just elevator that takes longer to go up the heavier the troops (hence the longer waiting times for each troop.) When you upgrade troops in the laboratory, the upgrade is really happening below the surface when actual people are working on the robots and modifying them to the next upgrade. Dark barracks are exactly the same. You have to pay for the troops as you are really paying for the energy for the elevator lifting the troop. Army camps are where the bots wait to go to battle. The bots are heat powered so the fire in the army camps charges them up for battle. The weight of the troops itself does not matter, it the weight of the bot inside that determines the time. The troops turn into elixir in the field because in their robot parts they have an elixir section.
Part 2: Resources. Gold is also made underground in that factory, when the minecart goes underground it, a seperate minecart comes up and while it is up someone is filling the second minecart. This cycle goes on and on hence there is 2 minecarts per mine. Elixir is actually just a substance which pumped from the factory! How do they have all that elixir? You pay them for troops! Dark Elixir is a totally different substance which is simply found in the ceilings of the factory, the drill goes down the dark elixir sticks to it and it comes up.
Part 3: Single Player Campaign. The single player campaign is all just a setup. It is goblins programmed to move to the several parts andact defensively. Techically the campaign is no more than a practise for real attacks. The goblins at the start when you make a cannon are just to show you your defenses and how a cannon works.
Part 4: Defenses. These are just made in the same factory yet again. They are created and brought up when you are in the shop and they are programmed to do so. The ammunition goes underground through the factory. It is why Most of the defenses never need reloaded.
