What Does A Clan Mean to You?

Hi there, my name is Cody but I go by the alias Wiggy. I'd like to talk about something rather important so bare with me as it's a lot to explain. This is a mobile game, and although I remind myself of that every now and again we all forget this fact. A Clan whether it's in this game or another, can really impact a person. There's clans and groups that have been together for years and for some of us... it's family.

I've tried to lead some clans in the past for my channel, it was a great way to get in touch with my fans and really interact with them. As I had less and less time everyday I realized it wasn't for me but in just 3 months I met some amazing people that I still talk to today.

It's a mobile game... sure, but behind each and every device is a human. Whether it's a firefighter that saves lives every day, a young kid who dreams of being a director, or a single mother with 2 kids struggling to get by. Behind each device is a HUMAN.

I try not to start drama but recently me and my friends moved to a new clan, I won't say the name but most of you will know anyway. We moved as a group from a few clans and some just didn't work out but we had high hopes for this new one. I was always kind, I spoke highly of them in my videos, I showed replays and told how I had fun talks with some of the members. I felt like I had made at least a couple friends yet I couldn't help but feel that I was unwelcomed.

Once you have a YouTube channel you become a symbol. Now this isn't a symbol you can turn on or off because that symbol represents an ego and a stigma. If you have less then lets say 5,000 subscribers, you're probably a good and honest person that just wants to have some fun and help with his videos. But once you reach a certain amount this completely evaporates. NOW you are a symbol of an egotistic, and self centered human. Whether that's the truth or not doesn't matter to most people because they have already developed their opinion.

Why is it fair, that I can be as nice as possible, treat people with respect, and yet just because I have a channel now I have to be some sort of egotistical maniac. Why can't I just join a clan and have fun and use my channel to share replays and fun events with other players that love seeing the interaction. WHY?

Needless to say, some hurtful things were going on in the background, I was not valued I was hated and made fun of. It was horrible enough that an elder sent me the chat logs because he was so disgusted. Sometimes my jokes are taken seriously, sometimes I say egotistical things, that does not make me a bad person and it does not mean I sincerely think these things and I believe most people understand that. Sometimes I don't perform great in wars, sometimes I mess up, sometimes I don't have time to play Clash because of the many other things I have to do every day.

Folks this is a game, it's a fantastic game, it's a game everyone can play, any age and any type. It's a game you can make friends and it's a game you can have fun... let us keep this amazing thing and not abuse it. I'm stuck having to explain yet again why I'm not in a clan because people ask questions. But what am I supposed to answer? That I was too big of an ego and a jerk to stay, or that I just wasn't good enough at the game which just isn't true? I can't be perfect, no ones perfect. Let us keep clans as a way to interact, make friends, and have fun. Not a place to brew hatred and unfairness.


I'll be sitting in a clan by myself for a bit, but this is to anyone out there that has been in a clan like this, or runs a clan like this. Think twice before your actions because behind every device.. is a HUMAN.

a clan is a place that allows me to expand my troop capacity by 35 troops, donation clans treat you like a ♥♥♥♥♥ and give ♥♥♥♥ troops anyway, so I prefer to stay in one clan.

Leave your clan and find one that respects you

If people arent respecting you or making jokes chances are its not a stable clan.

There are many many clans out there that have loyal people. When you're talking to people daily you start to make friendships and make the clan aspect of the game more enjoyable. Chances are the people that do stuff like that arent loyal and are just trolls.

No one should be treated like that and truthfully some of it may be jealousy. There are many clans out there that are active and very very nice. Our clan has 15 people. Those 15 are loyal and friendly. We once tried to make a lot of people join and filled out clan once. However in a few days our can emptied to 20 people. Then 15. The same loyal 15.

I'm rambling now and I only have one last thing to say. From experience with being in multiple clans before, the clans with 15-30 people tend to be more kind and loyal.

There are good clans out there that wont treat you like this.

For me a clan is about friendship and helping each other. Some of our clan were there before I started in July last year.

Very nice speech. Everything you said was true. It must be hard for you to play clash with others now though:( Maybe, if you want to experience the game like everyone else, you can create a secret account in which nobody knows it's you? Kind of sad if you think about it really.

to answer your question, for me, a Clan ( in this game ) is to improve my progression, and of course all that chat stuff


but to your issue... you basically clan hop, and make jokes 'egoistically' (is that right?)
when you clan hop, you'll be hooked up with strangers, and if you hop again, strangers again

now let me ask you, if a stranger came up to you while you're walking down the park, and told you an "egoistical joke" would you like it?

pay them no heed, you don't need everyone to like you anyway

there are millions of players in clash, if you want to cater to everyone of them, that's just plain greed

False, I'm forced to move clans that have fallen apart in the past, I've never had an issue before this only some subtle jealousies, if that's all you took away from this I hope you see the positives in other things as you have nitpicked the negatives in this.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't one of the downsides, but there are so many positives that I can't dwell, I just felt this needed to be said for any clan that treats people the way they had treated me.

Although this thread is about a game and a clan what it really describes is this world. To the OP, its exactly what you described. You met some nice people and some not so nice people, its exactly the same as interacting with people in the real world. Some will like you and some will hate you for the simplest things. You can't take everything so serious, if you are worried about people talking bad things about you, then they are not your friends.

My advice is 1. Create a clan with your friends that you trust/ like and have a small clan. And 2. Don't worry or care about people not liking you. Who are they to you? If they don't like you, you don't need to talk to them either.

It must be a hard life being a youtube celebrity. I especially liked the part about interacting with your fans ;)

Why don't you join a youtuber clan, maybe that will be a better environment for you?

There are many clans that do not war, many clans with an adult only requirement and many clans that play the game causally. I think for you, the best thing will be to make your own clan as you wish. Recruit people from the forums and state your requirements.

I am in a weekly war clan and without the donation pressure (since I am the highest leveled person), I can give dragons to those who need it. My current clan is good enough for me.

If it makes you feel any better I don't know who you are. Is that what you're looking for?

However, I'm sincerely sorry about this. Some people can be stereotypical about famous people; they think that being famous means being narcissistic. There are some good and (sorta) famous people like you who genuinely want others to have fun and share things that you do.

Meh. I liked it back when I was clanless. A clan to me is just a group to socialize and get troops. With the added responsibilities such as attacking in CW (three star or kick), donate more than you recieve, no going below 1000 trophies, etc. Now I'm in a clan, it's okay but I really don't mind going back clanless.

I don't know you and have never watched your channel before so it's impossible for me to even begin to judge you. It's not my place anyway, but let me just say this. Almost every well known Youtubers (or any youtuber for that matter) are part of a clan. Sure, you gain more attention as a "celebrity" but not necessarily in a bad way. Heck, some clans have two famous Youtubers in one roof. So, when being a part of a clan doesn't work out, may be it's time to reflect.

Is it them or is it you? May be they are bunch of jerks or possibly may be you unconsciously rubbed some of them the wrong way? From the look of it, you're quite a confident person and this could be interpreted differently by different people. Did you make egoistic jokes and crossed someone? May be they didn't very much care for that. Did you give them the reason to hate you? I don't know any of these answers but sometimes self-searching is necessary. They are wrong to talk behind your back but may be looking back at yourself is a good reality check. If you're certain it's not you, then find a new place. Somewhere you belong. I don't believe your youtuber status would get in the way if you find yourself a nice and mature clan. Just my two cents.

I have no idea who you are so I've obviously never seen your videos, but depending on how much you talk about/show your clan, that could be part of the issue. I know that I wouldn't be particularly happy if one of my members was putting clan chat conversations and/or talking about us on the internet for everyone to see, especially if they didn't tell me (although that wouldn't seem to be a problem in your case).

I think it's also quite possible that they're not simply judging you because you're "famous" but that they've watched your videos and don't like you very much. In any case, that was a long post just to talk about why a clan or two wasn't a good fit for you, there are thousands out there so find one you like better.

Sounds like you need to start your own clan and take your time to build a positive community that supports everyone. My wife and I formed a clan so we could donate to each other. Soon, we got a few more members that also had friends playing the game. Over the last 18 months it has grown and contracted, but mostly around 40+ members after the initial growth phase. I'm the leader in donations, my wife is the clans top farmer. The whole focus is to keep it positive and help clan members grow. Just because you start the clan does not mean that you always have to be the clan leader. You just need to ensure that the clan remains a positive environment.

Remember when it comesa to entertainment, Haters are the living proof of you doing something right. The definition of a hater is a person who simply can't be happy for another persons sucess.

I didn't realize you had a PhD in psychology though, that's awesome that you're able to decide someone isn't humble based solely on that statement.

Clan = a place to be competitive + meeting good players.

To respond to the title of the thread, a clan is a social group that fills the cc and/or provides the social experience to the game with a little bit of war thrown in depending on your preferences.

As I'm not a subscriber of yours I don't know how old you are, but think back to high school (if you are out of it). I'm sure some good times, friends, and sports come to mind, but there is a complete other side to the high school experience as well. As young adolescents that for the most part are insecure about themselves, kids are mean to each other. Bullying, gossiping, fighting, etc was everywhere. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way young people are to each other.

No matter where they are placed, kids will act that way when placed in with each other. The solution? Join an adult clan. There is little to no drama, people generally understand what they are doing, and there is none of that hatred and cruelty I've just read of in your post. I understand that high school and a mobile app are a little bit different, but you get the idea right?

For most of my clash career, I've been in all age clans and I didn't really mind it or know anything better. Recently, I've moved to DarkFarm and I've noticed a huge difference. Conversation is generally higher quality, requests are respected better, and there is a nice laid back atmosphere that draws many people to relax in clash when real life tends to speed up a bit.

I'm not saying everyone needs to go join an adult clan to find peace and enjoyment in clash, but it's something to consider. Again, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles of late but keep your head up and enjoy the time we have to play this wonderful network of fun that we call clash of clans. :)

When I was noob in this game I used to think that a clan with many cups is good,but now I released I am wrong.When I get feeling of me being unwelcomed,hated or bossed I used to simply hop clans,3 months I was doing that and didn't found any good clan,then came to know about forum recruitment I saw thread of Farmageddon family (my current clan)and I gived it a shot,and that simply changed my view of high level players.The guys in these clans are friendly,and no EGO!!!!.The leader was an almost maxed th10 and I was mid-Th8 and I was telling him how to attack in war,tho he was very good himself,he showed me no ego of being hih level player,he simply said "agreed,ok,thanks,will try that next time"I was surprised that the clan's staff had no ego they sometimes behaved like pros will telling somethings n sometimes like noobs who don't know the stuff.So I love these clan family usually overflooded with members,still doesn't blame low lvls n newbie's about poor performance in war.So I love it!!!and thinking that I will stay here forever lol.
