I wouldn't worry about king to 10. I'm basically a max th8 with lvl2 xbows and i don't usually get raided for de until over 25k. g1 or c3 has a lot of bases with 1k+ de, so farming it isn't bad, especially if you get your drills to at least lvl5, and it's much easier to hold onto as well. I just sent my King to 10 cause I happened to have the de building up to 40k. It's just easier to get and hold on to at th9 and less stressful when compared to when I was an 8.
You should max your barb king and then go to th9.

I'm thinking no. I'm getting raided for 2k everythime I go off so it'd be easier as th9
Personally, I farmed BK in TH 8 to lv 10 before moving to TH 9 just because I could and I prioritized that over defense because I raid a lot. But honestly, it's not a big deal if your BK isn't lv 10 in TH 9. Sure lv 10 BK is much better than lv 5, but DE farming is gets easier in TH 9. I highly recommend saving 40k DE before you hit TH 9 to get AQ instantly, who will really help you farm DE faster and better.
So yea it's up to you.
I just started my TH9 upgrade, and I have completely maxed everything except walls to L8, but I am working on the L8 walls. L10 BK is the way to go, and max all your troops first in my opinion. But I do see a lot of non maxed TH8's jump to TH9!
IMHO, fully max your th8. Every troop, BK, wall, everything. I HATED how the farming changed from th8 to 9. So much so that I actually started a second account to do it the right way. After you have everything maxed, make the jump and while your th is upgrading max your storage's.
Depends on your play style. I went to TH9 without a maxed BK.
Let us know, OP. I'm down to my last few weeks of maxing TH8. I was told that farming is horrible in TH9. Or at least compared to TH8 and I might get stuck maxing defenses instead of troops.
Obviously max the BK.
You will have so much to upgrade as a new TH9 you won't have enough builders to keep it all going. That and you will want to focus on the Queen.
By having your BK maxed at TH8 you can put him on the back burner for a good while, focus on your new TH upgrades and getting the Queen up to lvl 10.
Odds are you won't be touching the king for a good while once you are TH9. You are much better off just finishing him up now.
Of course, clearly it is your call.
