Trying to find some good threads on proper use of minions. I just got 'em (I'm a mid-level TH8) and I obviously know they can be used well, but I want to figure out what is the right way. I tried a couple attacks simply putting them behind a row of giants, but maybe there's a better way? It seems the Giants will often walk around the outsides of the base, leaving the minions easily exposed. Suggestions?
I have lvl 3 minions and to be honest, I dont use them much. I have however found it beneficial to always carry 3 or 4 with my BARCH army when farming. I use the 3 or 4 I carry in the following ways
-If they have giants in their clan castle, I lure them over to a corner and just let the minions finish them off
-If the barb king can be lured away from several defences, I will also use them along with barbs to finish off the barb king
-Sometimes if I am hovering around 48%, and they are all I have left, I can use them to take a builder hut, collector, or army camp that is not with range of an archer.
Having 3 or 4 at all times has really saved me a couple of times.

Now, there are two types of BAM farming (Barbarians + Archers + Minions). The first is training Minions non-stop in your two dark barracks (and the other barracks Barbs and Archers), resulting in about one-third of your army composition to be Minions. Make sure to test the area you want to send out your Minions on by sending out a couple of Minions to trigger any Air Bombs. Then go ahead and spam Minions, they will feast on anything, a swarm of Minions become overwhelming for even Air Defenses to stop them as Air Defense can only target and kill 1 at a time. The other type of BAM is only using a few Minions, about 12 of them in order to profit from Dark Elixir. The less Minions you use during your raids, the more you'll profit in Dark Elixir as of course they cost Dark Elixir to train.

So in short, after an initial test for air bombs, minions are best to use in a swarm, not in a line.
I'm TH8 with 200 army camp space. How many minions do you use on bam? I'm using:
55 Barbarians (edited)
55 Archers
20 Minions
5 Wall Breakers
8 Giants
3 lightning spells, which I only use if necessary. Like to wipe out a nearby mortar/WT or if stuck at 49% when out of troops.
Suggestions on changing it up for farming?

Barbarians are enough to sustain damage from Mortars as Archers attack behind them. You can farm more efficiently just by not using Giants (unless if you boost barracks).
Ok thanks. I'll try it without the giants and add another 16 minions.
