4 days before my TH8.
I have TH7 pretty much maxed before moving to TH8, but looking on TH9 compared to TH8, really tempted to "skip" TH8 and immediately starts TH9. X-Bows and AQ are too tempting to wait 3-4 month.
What do you think?

Do you know what lot penalty is? As for your "pretty much maxed" th7, I recommend cancelling the upgrade, I went to th8 with mostly pink walls and now I wished I'd waited.
Who cares about those useless Xbows/Archer Queen when you're broke and can't farm effectively because you only have noob level 4 troops? TH8 is where your patience will be tested even further....
easy steps:
Max TH7 completely including walls.
Max TH8 completely including walls.
Dont rush to level 9, you really don't want that loot penalty.
Th9 is the most unforgiving to people rushing their th upgrades. Th8 is actually pretty fun, more de troops, a drill, so many walls to upgrade, loads of barb king levels and more.
You would be making the biggest misstake of your life. Do NOT do it.
I would stay at TH7 until everything is maxed out.
TH9 are for players who have nothing else to do at TH8.
If you don't have full skull walls, don't go TH9.
If you haven't maxed your BK for TH8, don't go TH9.
If your DE troops are not maxed for TH8, don't go TH9.
And most importantly, if your resources collectors are not maxed, don't go to TH9. You will need those resource generator when you can't raid at TH9.
Black walls are not necessary. Pink walls are suffice, as it takes 2 level 5 wall-breakers to break through, which is the same as black walls. Black walls are only for the ones who are going for level 9 walls, perfectionists or for making your base look tough to break through.
Maxing BK is also not necessary. I mainly use my BK for the extra boost in case I'm doubting I'll break through or not, but most of the times, I don't need him. Either that or I need a few extra %. By the time you've maxed him at TH8, you've already spent enough time to max out TH9. I only upgrade him when I've coincidentally have enough DE.
Maxing DE troops is again, not necessary. If you do not use DE troops, why max 'em? I, for one, do not use the DE troops, because I simply do not need them. The normal elixir troops are good enough (for me). I'd rather save up the DE to upgrade my BK.
Collectors on the other hand, would I advise to max them. They do not take a lot of days to max, are cheap and may help you a lot.
I don't agree that you need to max all your walls before you upgrade, either. Sure, it would be nice, but as the poster above me noted, having pink walls is sufficient to require two wallbreakers. For interior walls (that are less likely to get hit by wallbreakers), i would recommend at least purple and probably black before you ugprade. but getting all black walls is unnecessary and requires an exponential increase in farming.
I think upgrading BK beyond a certain point is also unnecessary. For those that don't gem, having a 2+ hour recharge time really decreases, rather than increases, the effectiveness of the BK.
I do believe, however, that you should absolutely max every single possible defense/barracks/upgrade before you move on. Having to wait 12 days for lvl 6 teslas at TH9 is silly when you'll have SO much to upgrade once you get there. Give yourself more time to upgrade walls and take care of the time consuming things while you wait for your teslas/air defenses/barracks (you know, the annoying upgrades that take a long time and/or are painful to wait for).
Well i strongly disagree on this point, I mean who doesnt want lvl 9 walls?
If you are gonna play this game to the end then why would you wanna go though the pain of getting the walls on th9 where the loot is alot harder to get?
Black walls doesnt take as long as people think, you can do it in a month if you keep a builder on standby.
Who doesn't want level 9 walls? The people who don't have the motivation, time, energy, etc etc. As I clearly said, black walls are not necessary, because it takes the same amount of wall-breakers as pink walls to break through. Because of that fact, people will realize that they do not need to go through the hassle of raiding way more by spending the factors that I mentioned.
I've seen plenty of TH9 bases with maxed out defenses and level 7 or 8 walls.
Yes i have seen alot of those as well and i feel bad for them, walls are the best defense you are ever gonna get.
How many wbs do you usually bring? Most people dont bring enough to crack all the way to the center on a well segmented base and thats where your walls pay off.
You really should at least get the center done. Its also a really good way to not get attacked, if you put all Your gold in your walls you are a far less likly target.
And lets not forget the the scarefactor, i know i would certainly attack a th9 with all pink walls if the loot was good enough but i would really think twice if he had black ones and the same layout. Sure it depends on the base to of course but you get the idea.
I really cant see any downside whatsoever with having your walls maxed, but thats just my opinion.
Maxed walls is an intimidation factor. If you want to get attacked less when you're in TH9, get black skull walls. If you're a TH9 with pink walls, A good number of TH8 with maxed troops/army camps will attack you with no mercy.
I stupidly upgraded to TH9 without thinking about the consequences! In fact, i didn't even know about this site! I wish that i hadn't upgraded to be honest. I've just got most of my walls to level 6 (pink walls), and really struggling to upgrade my defences due to the loot penalty! :(
DON'T UPGRADE STRAIGHT AWAY to TH9!
Still laughing at one id...careless person who had stuff like Lvl1 WTs, gold or below walls, generally looked like he should be at TH6 max, and even that would be pushing it. And he was currently upgrading from TH8 to 9. We tried to tell him he's about to make a big mistake but his response was "LOL I NO MROE THAN U MY MATES IN BONBEE CANADA" and "would you like to see a picture of me in their lan". After recovering from the laughs he unfortunately removed himself from the clan before he could enlighten us more with his wisdom, but I'm sure he's happy with his choice. Dav3_0 or whatever your name was, you're an inspiration to us all, please keep on doing what you do.
Moral of the story: some people just don't get it. And if everyone did, farming would be a whole lot tougher :P
The poll option that says "No" should have a few exclamations on the end.
Voted yes because I would like to attack you.
For each new member of our clan, we have to explain this over and over and over again... sigh... everyone and their mothers wants to rush to TH 9... but it's the wrong way to play the game. I must have explained this to newbies 1000 times or more ... sigh... :)
I actually don't understand this. It takes the same number of wall breakers to crack skull walls and pink walls. I agree people should do their walls though because they are good defense and it only gets harder to do them later, but I don't get this "intimidation factor".
I won't think twice about attacking a skull wall base if the layout and defenses are ♥♥♥♥. I won't attack a base with pink walls if the layout and defenses are really good.
The walls themselves make little difference.
Level 9 walls which take an extra wall breaker can be a game changer though. However, not many people have those.
I think they should add another wall breaker level 6 which can break level 6 and 7 walls with a single troop. It's kind of crazy that an additional 700k (going from 121k total for 6 to 821k total for 8) per wall doesn't buy you any extra wall breaker protection.
Well like i said, it depends on the base layout to of course but if your not carrying many wallbreakers and your attacking a well segmented base the skullwalls make a pretty big difference. Im sure they scare away alot of people to even if its a bad layout.
If your attacking a ♥♥♥♥ layout then they wont make a huge difference I agree but people who has them have usually been playing for a long time and usually have learned how to design a pretty decent base or have copied a good one from someone else.
I do however agree that they should upgrade the wbs like you said, or give skullwalls a little boost to require 3 wbs since they sure costs alot more then the pink walls.
Wall is not just about wallbreakers!!!
Yes, it takes the same number of WBs, but it would make it much harder for giants or barbs or other troops to break through the wall!
Many attackers would run out of WBs and rely on other troops to break in especially for inner segments.
To everybody upgrading to th9 early, at least upgrade your mines and collectors. I hate when I run into your base and you have no loot.... Come to think of it, no loot may be the best defense!
