12 Hours shield or 16 hours shield are too long. Many players hide from that shield, so it's hard to attack them by finding from match making or revenge.
So, my suggestion is "Please reduce the free shield to 3 or 5 hours only".

The idea behind the shieldafter being attacked is to build up resources to build worthy buildings. You can't safe up 200k-600k in 5 hours? You can also finish a building within the shield.
My opinion: don't change the shield time

If anything the 12 hr and 16 hr are too short! Do the math:
If you have 6 Level 11 Collectors, you can generate 432k per 24 hours.
You get attacked, and the attacker gets the max of about 200k, and you get a 12 hr shield. You save up again, and in 12 hours you get attacked again, losing another 200k.
Net gain in 24 hours? 32k gold.
oh come on, I never relied on gold mine or elixir collector.
If I need resources, I get out and attack others. loot everything they have.
I want to loot 180k, but many high players hide behind the shield, so I play with the lower level and take 50k-80k of their resources.
and you know what, I dont need shield, anyone never give me shield because my defense always win
