No, maxing TH7 does not take that long. You are gonna need those level 7 walls too at TH8.
Don't worry about Dark Elixir until the rest of your base is maxed.

I would say no, but if you do the consequences of a 7-8 rush isnt that bad. Up to you bud :)
I rushed to 8 because I wanted more walls. Big mistake. It's taken almost 2 months of work to regain equilibrium. I say get as close to maxing out as you can stand before jumping up. TH8 is a fun level, but if you're not ready the first few weeks seem like a never ending cycle of getting squashed and trying to catch up.
I would highly suggest not to.
th7 dosnt take long to max at all. most people gem the king or get it from some achievement.
