Where do the troops put the resources they shoot and hit?? Its part of the game please there is a post about this everyday it gets annoying.
You're missing something bigtime here.
First, Dark Elixir is used for upgrading and building dark elixir troops and these troops comes handy depending on how you use them.
2nd is Lightning Spell. try to max out your lightning spell, make 3 and zap it to a dark elixir storage. the bigger the amount the storage has, the bigger you could get from zapping it.
How does a fireball suck up resources?
How does dropping bombs on it from a hot air balloon suck up resources?
How does spitting out black tar suck up resources?
