What to do about a premature Town Hall ?

I just wanted to post to pay homage to one of the great OP that exist. Very thoughtful. Good job packing so much objective truth into an easy read.

I just wish I could link this thread into the game clan messages now, so clan could just click to read....

Catch up buy all builders and work on catching up start farming and put TH outside!

From my personal experience all of the advice in this topic is very good. And well worth listening to. But . . .
At TH8+ (works better at 9/10) you can buy all the walls, every defensive building that is not an xbow or inferno tower and a make a good base design and avoid/win most attacks on your base. As the sheer number of defensive buildings you have can't be breached without a large/high levelled force. I'm at the 1k - 1.1k trophy level and this seems to hold true for me. (with most of the buildings at a low level, but I am slowly upgrading them now)

But of cause you'll probably matched vs other TH10's when you attach in multiplayer. So that could be tricky. I won't say racing to a high TH is the easiest way, it's not. As this topic says race to a high TH and do northing else and you're boned for a good while. But if you have a few upgrades along the way, it can be a very interesting experience if you understand the pros and cons of not maxing everything out before you level up your TH. Harder then maxing out before levelling up the TH? I'd say yes. But is it less fun? I would say for most yes. But a few people (like myself) would enjoy it.

I first started using these forums a few weeks after I had VERY prematurely upgraded to TH 9. I wasn't really enjoying it, and was considering quitting the game.

Upon reading this thread, I thought to start a new game on my iPad, which is going brilliantly! Taking the advice of many on the forums, I've been building it up slowly, and thanks to an iTunes gift card and having 4 builders pretty much from the start am loving my new account. 6 weeks has led me to a solid position 2/3 of the way through TH 7, and IMO I have a very solid foundation, so thanks for that.

Recently, I thought I'd give the old one another attempt. First, a quick summary of the premature-ness:

- 1 Xbow
- Burger King lvl 4 / no AQ
- mostly pink (lvl 6) walls, few gold!
- 4 Army Camps still lvl 6

And many more. Suffice to say, it's fairly shocking. I did love the journey, though the first main clan I was with encouraged upgrading to the next TH when you could, and then my mates and I raced to TH 9 and stuff like that.

About the only good thing I managed to do was get lvl 6 Archers, which was a crazy 2 weeks worth of grinding out the 7.5 mil elixir.

Back to recently, through some smart gameplay, lots of low cost armies and the generous support of my clan, I managed to tick off 2 preliminary check boxes that I believe will be the start of a new beginning for this premature account - Barbarian upgrade to level 6, and building the 2nd Xbow.

I know I am a LONG, LONG way away from having even a decent base, but having passed this point I believe I may be able to bring it back. Once I finish exams, I will be wholeheartedly attempting to get it back to a competitive point, though that is certainly many months away.

Hopefully one day it will be an account worth having. At the very least, my clan (GW3, a feeder clan for GuerillaWarrior) can enjoy the high level Archers and Dragons.

Guys if you upgrade you townhall to early, you can expect a large loot decrease every time. But everyone do this. Mee to.
For example TH7. That was my best time, really. I enjoyed farming and getting 200k resources of both only with wasting about 60 troops, half archers, half goblins, a great strategy to clean all collectors and get 50%!

But one day I had a big problem : It was impossible for me to get 10k dark elixir to buil a banarian king. So I bought a 50€ iTunes, wasted all for gems and upgraded my TH to 9 in an row. It took at least 5 minutes and my fun was over. My gems were enough to buy a babarian king and a archer queen as well...

My first attacks were great fun, but when I noted, that I'll never get 100k loot the next time, i was really sad. I first tried to upgrade cheap things like air defenses until lvl4 and something like this. My 5 builders made this a really short time, so I needed to farm more resources.

Luckily I had a great plan for the next weeks. I reached 1450 trophies, whis is great for TH9 and upgraded my offensive troops. I made a clan called The Project and started a 2nd account on gamecenter to have more fun with TH7. Actually my 2nd account is only on TH4...

You have to know, that I didn't upgrade my TH too early from TH7 to 8. I upgraded on lvl 65. My defence buildings helped me and I'm now on lvl 75. Sometimes I get 200k, sometimes 300k loot of both. Only one is important: I won't upgrade my TH to lvl 10 in this life!

That all very shot:
1) Don't upgrade you TH if you note have don ALL upgrades. Never. Upgrading you TH from 2 to 7 in a row is like upgrading it from 6 to 10. Worsed!
2) Spend money only in builder huts!
3) Don't think walls were not important to upgrade!

No, because it isn't difficult to still farm. I upgraded to Town Hall 9, before the Town Hall 10 update, without acknowledging the penalties, and disadvantages, but I still managed to maintain a decent village.

This, this, this and this. This is probably the only thing I disapprove in CoC. Fortunately I was lucky enough to find the forums when I was still in farming heaven (th7), but many fellow clashers just rush th without knowing the existence of loot penalties.

I currently have a lvl 8 TH and have been feeling the allure of the now cheaper by 1 mil gold lvl 9 upgrade.

Being another player that is totally unaware of the loot penalties i just wanted to thank you and aidanipadmini's advice on staying at lvl 8 - Now i can make sure that I'm 100% ready before I make the move...
