I was a premature TH8, thankfully I played a lot already so it wasn't as bad as people who just joined and gemmed up their TH. Unfortunately, it has taken months to get up to speed and now as a level 74 TH8 I am finally getting compliments on my base again. Definitely glad I held off on TH9, that is a less forgiving upgrade.Quote:

th8 isn't a viable target and th9s are pretty hard to rush on (need lots of troops). So I can only go on attacking for 70-100k an cursing the day I had the idiot idea to upgrade th9 to th10.
PS: I think I was not a premature th9. I am level 90, most defenses are at 10 or 6 (wizards and mortars) and my walls are all lvl 7.
If you don't have level 8 walls and you are TH 9 you are premature.

Good thread. This is good advice for lower town halls as well- I rushed into TH8 before I caught myself (thank God TH9 is so expensive, or I would have done myself in). Luckily, I'm mostly out of the hole I dug and I finally got into a decent clan that is actually somewhat social and donates troops.
I do disagree on the point of being unhappy with Supercell for "allowing" people to prematurely upgrade- I'd argue the people most likely to upgrade too early and get frustrated with the game would do so anyway, or at least play so poorly that they would lose interest regardless. It's up to the player how to spend their actual dollars- and gems.
Sigh... I miss the days when you could sell town halls :'(
