How does one afford Ice Cream, Candle, Jam, coffee makers and gift shop? My balance is only 15 to 20,000 coins and I've gone broke 7 times.

The Ice Cream Maker takes 1 day, 7 hours of construction.
It's definitely harder than it used to be. Back when I was a lower level player, walking 10 miles to school uphill both ways, there was no neighborhood building, no town and hence no gift shop (or any other shops), no candle maker, no bees. A lot less to spend coins on. And I still had a hard time until I reached level 50 or so.
Don't worry, one day you will have more coins than you can spend. You might even miss the old days when getting a lot of coins was a cause for celebration.
Yeah Janilee, i totally agree.
you are so right Janilee. OP perhaps you need to pick and choose a bit until you accumulate more coins. Maybe consider leaving the town/gift shop on hold. It does pass though and you will have plenty of coin eventually. As Neen said sell, sell sell in your rss for maximum price and advertise.:)
What is rss in Hayday. I only know it as being a feed, aka rss feed.
update:
I turned level 50 and can't afford a thing! When not going bankrupt, my balance seems to hover at 10,000. It seems if you fill others boats and sell to walk-ins, you lose money. I finally was able to afford to upgrade my lobster, but they didn't play like hay day said they would. I'm hoping to afford the gift shop. I'd like a candle maker, but I've yet to break 30,000 coins. I don't know how much longer to hang in there. Also Hay Day is forcing me to buy extra property just for my dead nectar bushes.
RSS is the roadside stand.
It looks like you figured out a golden rule in HD: when trying to earn coins do NOT fill boats or sell to the walk-ins AKA little people. The little people are stingy anyways. ;) Focus on only selling in your RSS and selling at max price only. Make stuff like crazy and sell it like crazy. Also flip through the DD but only to look for deals on items that you can buy to then resell at max in your own RSS.
Keep hanging in there. You will earn coins pretty fast believe it or not. :) I assume you are also in a good NH that collaborates and helps one another succeed? Usually one person might, for example, get many deeds and not enough stakes. Maybe you get too many stakes and not enough deeds. Find these folks and trade with them. You can do this with GC or FB friends too. I did it with GC friends before there even was a neighborhood. It works brilliantly.
Don't give up. You will get more coins than you know what to do with. I promise ;)
