Inferno towers are the obvious choice, but besides inferno towers I'd have to say that Wizard Towers and Teslas are probably some of the most effective/destructive defensive structures a base can have, especially at high levels. Level 7 Wizard Towers look intimidating enough to scare off most inexperienced attackers.
