War strategy and regular attack strategy

War strategy:
In war, all battles are must-win situations. Resources don't matter. I need help figuring out what the best troop composition is for war for th7. Is mass drag (10 lv. 1 dragons) the way to go? Even though resources don't matter in a war, you still want to make a profit, so 10 dragons (250k elixir) seems like a waste on a war you might not win. Even if you get the three stars, you need to make sure the reward exceeds 250k elixir, or less you're losing resources and you still might not win the war. Please help with a good attack strategy.

Farming strategy:
In multi-player battles, going for resources is an option. I need a good th7 army composition that will get me the maximum resources possible. (Barbs lv4, archers lv4, gobs lv3, giants lv4, wbs lv4, balloons lv3, wiz lv3, healer lv2, drag lv1)

A skilled player with Th7 Max Giant/Wiz and maybe some hogs can 3 star a Th7. Full Lvl1-2 hog raid can wipe a Th7 or 8, though it costs a lot of DE for you. Level 1-2 Full Drag swarm, or Dragloon, can wipe Th8's. Max'd Th8's with good bases are difficult for that but still possible with the correct execution and troop levels.

Your Lvl1 Drag army costs 250k plus 60k+ for spells and it's likely that from each raid you get about 200k/each, basically it's an expense on elixer but you profit on Gold by 90k and maybe some DE. I forget from when I was a Th7.

The thing about war is that you have a field of battle to use the strongest potential army this game has to offer where otherwise we're mostly just Barching or Giant/Healer(th7-8) farm raids. A lot of farm bases we raid are 10-20 levels lower than our own and there just isn't much challenge in that. All i'm saying is it's about the strategic satisfaction of running over a base at or above your level.

For farming I say go Barch, BAM, BAG, etc. in Gold league. I use 108barbs 104 archers 4wbz (just in case) and Hero's when they're available.

War is not farming. It is not profitable. It is fun.
ANY TH7 can be 3 starred with 3 lightening and all dragons.
Its easy. (see my guide in signature)

Giant-wiz-healer is good, but often just 2 stars.

All hogs works but its hard to get that much dark elixer.
