It's only gonna be a single structure.
You only say cramped because high level TH designs always encompasses the whole building area.

It could be just fictional.
You don't need to have mythological background because these are barbarians we're talking about.
They worship whoever they want whether it be a being of higher power or just nature.

If they get serious with this, how about a naming contest (They give us the powers, we supply the name)

Would the effects carry into the wars as well, or would they be nullified?
