A buddy rushed th10 - needs help to survive.

A friend of mine at work who recently joined our clan has made a bit of an error and rushed to TH10. He is prepared to spend money on gems but we would like to be able to get him to start cleaning up his base and fixing the damage. Literally all of his base is way too low. Wiz tower 3, archer tower 8, mortars 5,etc

What do people recommend he uses gems for and presumably we will be going for splash damage defences first followed by troop upgrades and heroes? We want to do this as quick as possible but maybe cap at the big box of gems.

I was at in the exact same place as your buddy. Regret rushing TH sooo much, but working on it :P

Drop down trophies to gold to make raiding easier.

First build all available buildings. I can see your buddy only has 1 X-Bow. Getting all 3, and both infernos helps a lot.

What I suggest he does first is get Infernos and get them both to lvl 3. Infernos are crazy against anyone who doesn't have a freeze spell.
After this, upgrade all X-Bows to lvl 4.

Once these two are done, upgrade splash damage buildings such as wizard tower and mortar. These are great at keeping tier 1 troops away.

With the elixir, upgrade army camps. The more troops you can hold, the easier farming becomes.

This is a long process. I've been trying to recover from a rushed Town Hall for almost a year now.

That is a trap that most newbies fall into, rushing your TH. It seems good at the time, but later you realise it wasn't such a good idea.

As for what to do, he'll have to start back at square one. Go farming. I see he's farming in Crystal III at the moment. That's too high. People will be raiding his storages, and he'll get fed up with the game. He'll have to drop to around Gold III or Gold II and farm. It may seem low for a TH 10, but there are some rushed TH 9s there that should have a ton of loot in the mines and pumps. I am a Th 8 in Silver I, and I found a 800k raid off a rushed Th 9 the other day.

So that's what to do, and I hope all goes well for him.

If your friend want to use gem... gem on upgrading troops to max: depends which combo he is good at, i recommend loonions because it is the best. Don't waste gem on defenses.

I have a rushed TH9 with lvl 2-3 defenses and it's doing fine even in CW.

Restart the game from the scratch,Let him spend the gems on buying 5 builder huts.
Don't waste your money trying to recover that base.

Drop down.. Gem the farming tier 1 troops. Barch, giant and wall breaker. Those 4 troops gem it until max. Start farming at gold 2. Get the walls and splash defense at least lvl 6 for mortar, lvl 5 for wiz tower. Walls at least lvl 7. Then you are good to go..it is not hard since the cost for splash at most is 2 millions for the mentioned lvl.

Start over. I have seen guys spend 10k and not able to farm properly for upgrades

Start over. Not only as the base will cost gadzillions, but also to learn the strategies. You get that experience in strategy as you cycle through the base levels.

And looking at his base, he needs to have a better grasp of the basics

Gem barching troops, gem your camps, get thos infernos (gets TH8 and most TH9 from attacking you, whatever your other defences are).

Then simply play by session so you can barch more than you possibly lose when raided, and ideally, spend all your gold and elixir before you disconnect so you have nothing to be raided for.

Imo, this can be recovered, no big deal, anything can be recovered, and if your barching army is maxed, you will be able to barch any TH9 in the exact same way as a maxed TH10 would be.

Just max out the research for barbs and archers. Start farming, and never sit on more than 1 million loot. No need to start over.

If he is willing to gem then have him gem infernos. Even lvl1 will go a long way.

I think that is the only thing he should outright gem.

The rest of his gems should be spent on boosting barracks. He needs to raid on a straight session and then spend all his loot before logging off.

Upgrade low level defenses and focus on getting at least a 220 army camp size.

Also, upgrade drills. He needs to get the queen ASAP.

Priorities in lab should be tier 1 troops, giants and wall breakers.

To be honest I would focus ONLY on elixir.
