Just wondering what everyones opinion is on this. Should you spend time and troops luring out CC first? I usually don't, but last war I got burned hard by not doing this. My pekkas all clumped up and their wizards got all 4 pekkas red before they could be killed. First and only 0 star I've ever gotten with gowipe.
Was I just unlucky? Or am I foolish to not lure CC out first? Thanks for advice on this!!

Likewise, I've been burned when pekka's clump, and zap doesn't kill wiz and only put them in the red. Since I've used hogs or loons lure to get more mileage out of my gowipe.
Definitely lure, especially if it's easy enough to do so.

IMO not really. I never really lured with any gowipe/wiwi attacks unless it's just extremely easy to do...and even then.
Comes down to deployment. Make sure your rocks are tanking damage then drop a rage followed by wall breakers and wiz/witches behind them.
usually 20-24 wiz under a rage are enough to clear anything they have in their CC in a matter of seconds (provided golems are tanking primary fire). I would also drop a heal if I know they are going to be sustaining a lot of concentrated firepower in one area.
You could use a light I suppose to deal with it, but I'd rather save that extra spell slot for something else more valuable.
you are probably doing something wrong if cc is wiping ur pekkas... pay attention to deployment... if it's an ez lure then go for the kill.. if not usually a zap or raged wizzies take care of it...
Rage wizzy can be a bit of a gamble thought. They may get outdraw by the CC wiz, or get flanked by mortor or other weapons. I'm sure either will work for a 2 star vs TH9, but I find to 3 star max th9 vs max th9, everything needs to go perfectly.
CC can help draw the pekks into the core which is good for you. On the other hand, witches can slaughter pekkas. I don't lure, but usually carry either my own witches to backup the golem pekkas with rage, or lightning. As others have said, lure if easy but you don't want to run out of time at the end going for the 3rd star.
Yes if it is not an unlureable cc. It needs to be pulled easily and the key to doing so is to analyze the setup of the base and pull the cc troops to where you want to start your attack. If done efficiently there is plenty of time to get the third star.
Reasons to do so is you can deal with cc troops outside of base without worrying about defense fire, walls, heroes, and you don't have to waste a spell on light and can add a rage or heal in its place.
You can still use the layout of the base and with wall breaker deployment, enemy heroes, and by bracketing troops to get them to go to core no problems.
If it is a hard to pull cc then add a couple witches to your combo to help deal with cc and watch pekka deployment to ensure they don't bunch up and rush to the front. It is a matter of timing and comes with practice. Drop a rage then take a heal in case they do get some damage.

In our clan most of us only lure when it's hogtime on TH8/lowerTH9, not when we gowipe/gowiwi/gowiwipe against TH10 and strong TH9. I'm not sure if it's best to lure or not but I find it more easy not to. The last Gowipe in our ongoing war gave 3 stars against a TH10 with 2 ITs so I know it works. We often bring a Lighting that at least do much of the job to kill enemy CC.
What I don't like about lure cc is:
It takes time!
Often you have to drag the troops a long way to find a safe kill place.
It eats troops from your army both for lur and kill the CC trops, and often you don't know what's in there.
Often I don't want to start the attack from the place where I kill the CC troops and then surviving troops are pretty much lost.
That said Pekkas can be easy targets if left alone against CC and skeletons so I usually drop at least 2 witches pretty close, along with the wizards.
To the OP: 4 pekkas is a lot of troop space for that attack. 2-3 is more or less max what I would recommend bringing for a gowipe. That's enough space to fit 2 more witches if you use them, 6 extra wizards, or a mix of both. I usually don't lure cc troops and, if I'm gowipeing, my troop composition is usually 3 golems (which is including the 1 maxed golem I have in my cc already), 3 pekkas, 2 witches (can also be substituted for more wizards), 12 wizards, 6 wall breakers, and 1 archer (to fill the empty slot). My spell composition is 2 rage, 1 jump, 1 heal.
When I deploy I always split my golems on separate defenses, make sure they are at least 5-8 tiles apart, and place my maxed cc golem where I am planning my main attack from. I deploy a few wizards in a small line behind each of my golems with the majority placed behind the main golem for my attack. I use my wallbreakers only to open up the first layer of my opponents walls for my golems to get in. Once the outer buildings are mostly destroyed by my wizards, I drop my pekkas, witches, King and Queen, and any remaining troops behind that maxed golem.
Now from the main attack perspective, I usually line up my main, maxed golem with wherever their cc is more exposed so they trigger their cc troops, which help guide the attack into the core. I also try to get either the opponent's BK, AQ, or both in that pull to knock them out of the game quickly as well. What I do is I drop a rage and a heal on my main army when they meet the opponent's cc troops. This really speeds up the attack and makes sure your army survives the exchange. You can use your jump to ensure no walls get in the way of the battle too, or save it for after the core is down to jump your troops out in case they get stuck in the center.
Lure when the CC is not deep, just simply 1 or 2 Giant or Balloons can lure all the troops out.
Opposite at TH9 & TH10, when the CC is deep inside and you need WB to break in before you can send some army to lure the CC troops, I usually dont lure.
