Make players that understand game AI so they can be used properly.
Every mistake in a raid is human error.
First of all, that would be incredibly hard as players would easily find ways to trick the artificial intelligence into making even worse decisions than they did before, making this not a viable update.
Second of all, the reason that raiding is difficult is the AI. Attackers need to be aware of it to execute efficient raids, and defenders need to be aware of it to take advantage of it in intricate funneling and advanced trap techniques.
This is a terrible idea.
I have to say this - the AI in the game constantly and consistently lets me down. I just lost two stars in a raid when my troops, after destroying the town hall, went around the rubble and attacked an elixr storage rather than take out the mortar which was actually closer to them at the time.
Things like this completely ruin the game for people, because it is something that is totally outside the user's control. I agree - bad troop placement and poor decision can be a deciding factor in how a raid plays out, but, once the raid is under way, watching your troops completely disobey common sense logic and what you've come to understand as how the game works ends up sucking all the fun out of playing the game.
I should not get angry when something goes wrong. I should not get driven to the point of throwing my iPad across the room in disgust because my troops did something unexpected costing me 30 trophies (and that has happened.) I should not have to think about quitting the game entirely (and writing a scathing blog entry and review about it in the App Store).
Write a good quality game, with logical AI that makes sense, and you'll keep your players. Otherwise, I, and I predict many others, will be abandoning the game.
... and now let the flames begin.
Your an error with your comment. One has no control of the troops in the game. You point where to launch them and hope they do what you want them to do. You cant control them otherwise!
The ai is far...far from perfect and could use some improving.
Barbs...very rarely go where you'd like them to. I've had them go through a blown wall destroy whatever was there and then end up going back out outside and start going around the village only to get killed off by mortars and archers. When they ideally they should of attacked the next wall with my giants and keep going on the inside.
I've seen Barbs attack a wall and then stop and go after other random things that archers had been attacking. OR the most annoying is when barbs ignore the HQ in the center and go around the inside of a base and die.
Giants seem to be ok, they generally go after the def as intended.
Archers seem ok, but in some cases don't attack the selected target even though you place them infront of it.
Goblins imo could use a bit more health.
Wizards are ok, they generally do what I want them to.
That's as far as Ive gotten with my troop build. 3-4 star on them. The other thing that bugs me a lot is when your minions are under attack and ignore it. Example.. when attacking a random wall instead of killing off a nearby cannon or archer tower or any other def. OR attacking a resource when they could be attacking a nearby mortar or other def.
Simply put the AI of minions is lame and utterly frustrating at times no matter how hard you try to make them attack what you want, many times they don't. Barbs for the most part need to be made smarter. All minions need better pathfinding and target of importance upgrading.
I've played other knock offs of this game and a few had much better ai when it came to troops. But unfortunately those other games are not yet as popular as this one is.
I hope the ai of minions gets looked into soon.
Thanks.
Troops just go after the closest target to them.
