As long as they don't try and ask you for your itunes or Game Center details Im sure its ok.
I know some members are trying to be at the top and are willing to grab high end players.
NEVER give out your password or let others on your gaming account and should be fine.

Only pathetic clans give away itunes cards to motivate their members to donate. <_<

Donations should always be a given when you're in an active clan.

Yeah we shouldn't really get paid to work. Good thing I get paid to pretend to work. ;)

Thanks for the great in put on future ideas for competitions silentwill. The donation competition was just the first one i held. Some of you obviously missed the P.S. At the end of my post. This thread has motivated me to hold another competition!

No problem. Wasn't really my idea but my clan mate's (nick) who organizes these events. It's something our members look forward to, because we have events almost every week.

I agree with the latter, but I don't therefore agree with the former. I suspect that you hold the former because you hold the latter. Even if the give-away motivates some members to donate more than they otherwise would (not that I see that as a bad thing), it can add a sense of excitement (for some) that facilitates an enhanced sense of unity, but either way, it's different, and that sets the clan apart from others in at least one way, and that too can be a positive thing so long as others aren't being harmed. Some leaders want to go above and beyond the norm, and I would hazard to speculate that some leaders that consider such give-aways want to show their appreciation and gratitude for their comrades' commitment to making a clan special.

I highly doubt that the primary purpose is to issue some form of bribery to encourage team players to do what they ought to do anyway. Yes, it may support an already present motivation that should be there without a monetary give-away, but we should be careful (very careful) not to confuse consequences with intentions.

I can only see giving away the free itunes card doing more harm than good. Gems are pretty scarce in this game when you can only get them through achievements, weeding out obstacles, and doing freemyapps. If they see a leader who gives away free gems as incentives, most people will just act like beggars and bug the leader for more of it.
