So there was this guy in global claiming that if you join his clan he would give you the code for an iTunes gift card so you could buy gems. He said you don't have to give him any info, he will just give you the code. Is this allowed?
If staff wants me to reveal his name i can but for now I won't.

It's a gift card, meant to be given as gift so if he gives it to you, what's wrong with that? I doubt though that he'll really give you one.
It's probably a hoax, but if you don't have to do anything other than join his clan to get a free iTunes card, I don't see the problem.

Not sure if this post is directed at me or not but i have done this in the past. I am the leader of the townshend clan and as leader i closed the clan and held a contest. The clan member with the highest donations at the end of the week would win gems (or whatever they chose to spend it on) in the form of an i tunes card. I had the winner e mail me and i gave a password, went to clan chat and had that player give the password to ensure it was the winning clan member. After verification i e mailed the i tunes card number to that player. Probably more info than i needed to give but for me it was a friendly in clan competition that helped promote donations and comradery umungst our players. Im not saying you should join a clan with promises of gems and all of you should be extreamly carefull of who you give any personsl information to. Please consult your parents before you ever give info to anyone. Hope this helps........its not a hoax, at least not in my case!

P.S. Even with no gem winning contest i still have many players that donate 1000+ troops.
Giving money is a gimmick and a bad way of motivation, if you've to do such contests just for your clan member to donate then it is high time you remove some of them. The two week reset should be clear enough.
Will's clan also holds contests and the winner/s gets gems. It's not about donations though, it varies. Trophy contests, is the most common but we also utilize the achievements stats. We use them to have a competition with the most number of mortars destroyed, or builder huts, townhalls, most number of gold, elixir or de collected in a week etc. As long as the members who participate have not completed those and are far from completing they can join. I find that these activities are a good break from the tedious cycle of farming and upgrading.
