In this game there are too many ways to over bloat yourself. If you want to raise lvl you donate troops. If you want a high shield you simply th snipe. Lvl 40 champs make the whole shield thing a joke.
They really need a better way to rank players. I think war can provide this. Bases should be given a point value. Not just on upgrades but also by effectiveness of the base (is it typically 3* or typically 1* and by what kind d of opponent and army composition) etc. These points can be added some how and then subtract the points you give up. That would give you an individual total. One that shows how good of an attacker and defender you are. You also can't inflate it with the sniping. If a base is frequently one starred the point value would be worthless to your points. 1* would only get you points if its 50% raided. You would need to 2 and 3* a base to get any points.
I think as is the strongest players are easily to define in war. But war itself has no meaning other than just loot. It needs a purpose a way to rank etc,
