TH10 Elixir Requirements, also known as "Math for Supercell"

Elixir in millions. Hopefully no errors. Only applies to late 2013+ players, before that if you've had an extra year or more of play time over others of course you're done with this stuff.

143.8 million elixir total to get a TH10 army

Loot system redesigned last Dec so let's say I find 400K base after 25-30 Nexts and hit 2-3 storages for 200-300K Elixir. Awesome. Army cost:
16 Giants, 10 Wall Breakers, 8 Wizards, 88 Archers, 3 Healing Spells = 204,400 Elixir. So you go negative unless you get 3 out of 4 storages. Obviously your attack mechanism is not well thought out at TH10.

Supercell, can you implement a way for TH10 players to acquire Elixir? Purchasing 144,000,000 elixir with gems doesn't count.

Use dark troops and heroes. You sure have them dark troops maxed for th 9 before upgrading to 10 right ?

That sucks because I've been seeing and hearing from my th9 friends that elixir got better recently. They are using giants with healing spells archers and goblins to do it. That is also exactly what I'm attacked with by th9 also. I think most th9 are using that strat.. I dunno what th10 are doing tho.

Don't worry much. If you're not th 10, elixir is almost always overflowing. The lower your town hall level, even more so. Use that chance to improve your base.

I'm hugely struggling for lix at the moment. Not fun.

If you are having problems with gold, you can always raid more to get it. Lix is different without it you can't do anything.

No elixir issue here, may be you can use a less expensive army; mine is 20 giants 3 healers (often only use one or two) 16 minions thet 3/4 archers 1/ goblins approx and NO SPELL !

Lab currently working on barbarians Lev 6, all buildings made of elixir maxed, many walls already made with all that elixir i cannot use else where. Another advantage is that i have little elixir to still, so my 100k DE and 5 Millions Gold are still in my storages.

Assuming you upgraded walls to level 10 you need 1 Billion gold in just walls, ummmmm you are not concerned at all by the amount of gold needed?

Btw as a townhall9 i agree with you, which is why I am not moving up to enjoy the frustration yet.

If you have elixir issues and no gold issue then you lower your army cost and spend more gold nexting

Im a new TH10 who dreaded the elixir crises that is TH10.

I am roughly 2.5 weeks in and have built all army camps, SF, Lab, Arch 7 and now have Barbs 7 cooking. Thats roughly 41 million in elixir. (I have gemmed the time on builders when I had full storages)

My train of though from the get go was as follows:

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT GOLD, i do NOT care about GOLD!!!!

Once I made that mind shift, Id make sure I always had enough gold to 'next' to the next collector raid.

Even if it was 20 nexts or 100 nexts.

The reasoning was simple, if my army (100 barbs 120 archers) cost 46000 elixir, anything I loot above 200K lix was a clear 150 000 profit not compounding the league bonus in C3, C2.

Now yes, this does require quite a bit of time with the game open hitting next, and while some will say "wheres the fun in that?" my answer will be, "its done the trick".

Now that Barbs will take 14 days, I can be more experimental with troops composition and spells until theres 3/4 days left on the upgrade and revert back to 4 days of boring barch.

I found this the most effective way to move forward as a TH10.

I am just about in the same position and agree with you completely here.

There is a certain level of joy in the grind. It's been a interesting experience as a new th10.

BAM with wbs in Gold 1 or Crystal 3. Tons of preemie 9s and 10s. (Easy, as long as you aren't a preemie 9 or 10).

Without a TH10 army you cannot attack other TH10s effectively in Clan Wars. I can still defend without L10 walls. I did not like the amount of nexting at TH9 so I did not complete walls at all.

While I made the majority of my elixir at Crystal 3 using BAM, I think the new league bonus system has addressed most of your concerns.

if you are a th10 and are playing in masters 3 (where you should be) and you add the 100k loot bonus it changes your math. You also need to lean on your dark elixir troops to help.

Both my new th10 accounts are sitting in C2 right now. I have no problem finding loot to keep 5 builders going plus the lab. I initially went down to Gold 2 as a brand new th10 without infernos, but since I have got them (1max/1 lvl 2), I moved up.

I farm with a cheap army and avoid spells. I really don't see a problem if you attack correctly.

The OP might want to do to gold 3 where I found loads of rushed th9 & th10 bases for easy looting, as well as dead th8s with decent loot.

Life is sort of easy as a th10.....

OP i feel your pain. i too had massive problems with elixir when i first went to th10. i had to sit out of wars cus i wasnt making ground and in fact if it wasnt for collectors i would have been losing. then i saw a post that explaind the league bonus farming. he was doing it in c2-1 but i was in gold 2-1. i though what the hell. its worth a go. so i did. i am now making 1 mill from the league bonus per day alone. i barch. i hunt for those th8 and 10 bases that i can get 50%. my barch army costs around 60k but that is with lvl6 barbs and lvl7 archers. most cases i make a profit on elixir but i make way more on gold. also when you find a full de store zapp it. i only use my spells for zapping excluding another cost.

thats my advise. i do raid around 400 per season, probably more cus i dont need to win them all.

thats what i did and its working.

ps. ive been upgrading AT to lvl12 2 days at a time. so that must give you some idea of how well it works.

The only solution to the current lack of elixir offered in two pages worth of discussion here (and about 700 elsewhere) is "barch for collectors or league bonus". Is that the definition of 'farming' now? Just use the troops you've had since TH2 and hit next anywhere from 50-200 times until you get lucky? Oh, and don't forget to lower your standards first!

Of course there is, but you have to use boring tier one troops to attack exposed buildings.

If you wanna use strong troops and still break even in elixir, sorry this is not the way the game is designed.

If trophy troops means troops that you use to push for trophies, then i believe it's been proven that barbs and archers are also trophy troops.

I don't categorize troops based on their usage. I categorize them based on strength and specializations, so we have Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 troops.

It's just sad that Tier 2 and Tier 3 troops will never be able to self-sustain in terms of elixir.

Thanks all. I am rethinking "the grind" and may drop trophies and stop attacking and participating in Clan Wars...having a TH9 army doesn't cut it. Did the math and would take 285 days using collectors. Less since I have some completed already. Could play again Spring 2015 or so

Tons of 300-400k elixir th9-10s in gold 1.

To the OP, 1stly I would reccomend not farming with wiz...doesnt work out well in effciency
2nd I would stock up on DE and hog your way to enough loot to upgrade goblins

Then go a goblin heavy army - I use (15 giants, 12 Wbs, 20 barb 25 arc 96 goblins) then combined with heroes (or only 1 if upgrading) you can raid storage sometimes all storages if they are behing one wall, 2 if behind 2 walls
That should have you flying up in Gold and elix easy enough

The killer here is CW....it really depends on this

Im maxed so it doesnt worry me but I spend heaps in CW as the only maxed TH10 I spend craploads of elixir for donating....I hope you you dont have to balance that too.
