Obstacle question

Ok, so I've been working on my forest for almost a year. I just hit 40 obstacles, with 39 being where I want them. The 40th *might* not get removed because its a headstone. My question is, if I'm sitting at 40 with a gem box, a Christmas tree, and 2 headstones can any more new obstacles spawn? Do those 4 unique obstacles count?

If more can spawn, how many more?

I don't get spawns every 8 hours anymore, not enough space on my base.

But your base hasn't got much more full moving from 39 to 40 obstacles, so you should still have a similar spawn rate to before, even if it is longer than 8 hrs.

I don't think the headstone counts.

have a look for a clan called runway, with one member also called runway. It's got a white cross on black background as the emblem, and I think he has about 1300 trophies.
he retired about a year and a half ago, so I think he has hit maximum obstacles, and he has a headstone.

Time will tell. But I wouldn't count Xmas trees and headstones in the equation. Those don't reward you with gems so I would think they are different.

Headstones do not count as obstacles. I have 40 trees a gem box and 2 headstones.

They do count towards the total, they just can spawn even if you hit the max of 40 obstacles, but if you already have 1 + 39 other obstacles, they will stop spawning (unless it is another headstone or a gem box, you get it)

if you have 39 obstacles and get a tombstone, you can still get more tombstones but no more trees?

I think anything that spawns counts as an obstacle.
It looks like Supercell may have increased the total obstacle count from 40 to 50.
I visited several low abandoned bases and they seem to have 50 including gem box.
