Look at the change logs. Since October 2012 league bonuses were introduced and buffed twice. Town hall 10 got an extra collector. Clan wars brought loot in and the loot bonus was buffed. Shortly before 0ct 2012 th9 was introduced and collectors received an additional level. There have also been many people who quit over the past two years who's collectors still spit out loot into the system.
TBH, I would simply suggest you try different trophy range and time.
IDK at what range you are farming, what troops you are using or if you are TH10. But if you are TH9 and below..
I have been doing pretty well actually.
TH9
farming range1500 - 1700 (for gold/lix)
2100 - 2300 (for DE)

Lol - how long did you spend trying to find that.
People are complaining about finding less than 1.5 million for an upgrade that takes days to build and the cost of skull walls. Not sure if they underwent a price reduction when TH9 was introduced but people are currently farming walls costing 1 mil +
And besides from reading various responses to these types of threads SC does seen to have tried to address the issue. Maybe not successfully.
All this thread shows is that SC cant make everybody happy and people whined about TH 8 upgrades. TH8 farming seems to be regarded as the last nice TH for loot.....
