Proposal to fix loot: Phantom Loot
Clash of Clans has a HUGE problem: Loot. Most players rely on collector raiding but active players collect their resources quite often and they don’t usually have resources to be raided once they go offline. At peak hours the sheer number of active players searching for loot outweighs the number of inactive players with available loot that lose their shields. This means that at peak hours good bases are raided almost immediately and the remaining bases are the ones that no one wants and the bases of players that just went offline. As we can see the problem lies in the scarcity of viable bases during peak hours, a way to fix it would be artificially increasing the number of available bases by cloning inactive bases this has a drawback: trophy inflation and trophy dispersal at high trophy count. Another proposed solution is increasing collector speed, bases would fill faster but it would affect all players, something like this should be followed by a cost increase for most buildings in order to balance the additional income. A third option is to increase league bonus, this works, mostly, but is not granular enough, you either get the full bonus or nothing.
I propose a different solution, increase base desirability by randomly replace its collectors and/or storages with partially filled ones. All bases would have a chance to have phantom loot on it, this loot would only exist for that attack and once it’s over all uncollected loot will vanish. The owner of the base would only lose the amount he would have lost during a regular attack, as a way to balance the increased number of attacks that bases will sustain phantom loot bases would give less trophies to the attacker and more to the defender on a successful defense.
The chance to get phantom loot on a base would be determined by things like the average number of times players need to press next at a given time, the number of connected players, the amount of resources that the player has stolen during the last 24 hours and other factors such as whether the player has boosted barracks or not.
Phantom loot bases would fulfill the same role as inactive bases and would provide extra loot for the growing community, at the same time it would provide an incentive for players to improve their bases because they will no longer be safe if they spend their resources, so good bases will get more trophies because they will withstand more attacks.
The idea behind this is provide more targets for players to loot and make “nexting” a thing of the past.
