At this point I have gems left and the only reasonable place to spend them (for me) is finishing buildings faster. Is this wise? Or should I spend them on other things? Resources aren't a problem so far, so I won't spend them on that.

Freeing up builders to remove obstacles are one of the best ways.

I would say best place to spend them is in the lab, simply because if you look at it, total lab time is far more than total builder time (at least if you have 5 builders) so at some point in time, you'll have your base maxed and still have some work to be done in the lab...
Boosting barracks used to be the best place to spend them a while ago, but it's not worth it anymore... loot is so scarse that my troops are ready anyway when coming back from cloud, so why would I need them to train more rapidly.
I just boost 2 barracks, these days, when I have enough gems .... with the amount of nexting etc, it seems to work out ok, make plenty profit, without nexting too much ...... (TH9 - using BAM in gold league, I boost 1 barracks barb, 1 barracks archers):rolleyes:Quote:
