Upgrade hogs or GoWiPe troops for clan wars?

We try for 3 stars, but 2 stars are not considered a failure unless you are attacking low. Consistently poor attackers may also be removed. With a nearly 100% participation and good communication, we win almost all wars. Personally, I feel slightly unhappy if I get 2 stars and 1 star is obviously an utter failure. With lvl 3 dragons vs TH8, 2 stars is definitely not a success, it is just average.

Dragons are great, but I just want more variety and I was wondering if I should prioritise Hogs or GoWiPe.

Hogs all the way. I have lvl 4 hogs and use them all the time in war. I even have a thread of how to effectively raid with them. Hogs are the best!!

I'd say hog Attacks can give you mor flexibility with gohog, holo or mass hogs.

Most th8s can b 3 starred using lvl 3 dragons. If u are in hard core war clan and needs 3 stars consistently, u won't b using pekka much at th9. Gowiwi is much better than gowipe at any given time. I'd prefer upgrading.. Wiz, dragon,then hogs, golem, last is pekka if u want.

hmm. I'd think the answer is pretty straightforward.. GoWiPe. It can be extremely effective against TH 8 and 9. My clan is a hard-core , non-stop war clan, and I speak from experience. As for what you should upgrade first, I'd say wizards, because they are an extremely flexible troop that you can use in a lot of attacks, wether it be GiWiPe, Giant / Healer / Wiz, etc. they are also good for donating. next, I would do golems then pekkas if you are really focused on GoWiPe. As a TH 9, I rely on GoWiWi for every attack in every war. The Golems really help. Level one golems are arguably weak. They do little damage and have only around 4,500 HP if I remember correctly. While the Golems are indeed an expensive upgrade, they are worth it... And once you get them done, they're done. I would then do your barbarian king. Getting him to level 10 is a huge help because he unlocks his second ability level. GoWiPe really relies on the strength of the heroes and the strength of the Wizards. Once you have L2 Golems, L5 Wizards and (at least) L2 pekkas, and L8+ King, it would most likely bring you three stars from TH 8's if done correctly. Also, if your clan has max witches, two of them in the CC would be very effective. Until you finish with those upgrades , I would say just keep on using drags for war, as I did at TH 8. They usually give at least two stars. Also, as a side-tip, I always used 2 rage and 1 heal spells when using dragons. I hope this helped you.

I'm a nearish max th8 right now with lvl 4 hogs, lvl 1 pekkas. Upgraded my hogs first.

Here is my experience, I've been happy with the decision to upgrade hogs.

In war I use dragons on th8s unless there is a hoggable th9 base that I can attack (heros on the outside).

I'll use GoWiPe when our clan get's mismatched with a clan with a lot more th9/10s than our th9/10s have attacks for and so I'm forced to attack a unhoggable th9. I usually 2-star.

For reasons tahts im too lazy to write but will b noticeable as you go along..gowipe...max that one trust me;)

It seems that the pro-Hog people have come back with a vengeance! But they are less nice than the pro-GoWiPe crow ;)

We are at 35-4 current, including an 8 win streak going on. That included a win against a clan with 82 war wins. It will be difficult to beat us when we are getting almost 100% attacks in and can get 90% of the max war stars possible :D

Level 3 hogs will be one-shot by level 3 Giant Bombs which are available at TH8. So, all of them must still be taken care of.

Thanks, I am upgrading my wizards to lvl 5 as they have so many uses but after that it will be either Hogs or Pekka.I have not made up my mind yet. I am leaning towards GoWiPe, but mass Hog attacks are pretty easy on resources though.

I have had lvl 4 hogs since early in TH8 and used it as a main attack in wars before and after the NERF. You can 3 star just about any TH8 with lvl 4 hogs, but they are not strong enough to 3 star a decent TH9 base. As our clan has grown and our competition continues to get stronger it is more critical to get my GoWiPe stronger as I am a new TH9 now after maxing out TH8 and hog 4 are useless against the bases I need to take on. So in a nutshell... if you are only taking on TH8 or below, hogs are great... but for anyone with a decent TH9 or above, you should build up the GoWiPe troops IMO.
