are the kind where you contribute items, like now. the newspaper is practically "deserted". not many people are browsing because they're all busy making pumpkin pies. i managed to buy lots of stuff! premium items as well as expansion materials. i love it lol
Daniel we agree with one extra twist: we love gettting the decor items instead of tools for these kinds of events.
We also love getting vouchers (and not tools) for the fishing event because this helps us make more colored lures to catch bigger fish to put in the box :)
Our least fave prizes are mining materials and land clearing tools (axes and saws), but we recognize that others love getting those. We were one of the howlers when the axe drop rate was changed after the bee update. Now that the axe drop rate is adjusted and we are back over 100 axes, we are back to not wanting to see axes as prizes.
so true, i agree with that. i got all axes, saws and shovels for stage 1-4, not very pleased! but i think SC has been listening. we need axes, so they've given it to us. but i do not think its appropriate during such events.
This is my favorite kind of event, too. And I also like getting decoration items. Even if they are ugly, like that VD statue, at least it's something different. At this point, I don't really need more vouchers or deeds.
But I don't see why the paper should be deserted. It's not like it takes a lot of time to make pumpkin pies. And if they're too busy to buy stuff, shouldn't they also be too busy to sell? :confused:
My feelings are a bit different.
I loved the fact that i got 10 axes as i have 40+ nectar bushes that i need cleared.
I stopped contributing when i discovered that all i get is unwanted decorations and that the Price for reaching the goal is also some ugly halloween decoration and not diamonds.
I got 3 sets of tools and 2 decorations as prizes. Fortunately, I got the haunted birdhouse as the fifth prize. That was the only one I REALLY wanted and was prepared to pay diamonds for. (I did spend a lot of diamonds on the fencing to use around my town hall.) I also hired Tom for a day because I hadn't stocked up on pies, and I wanted to do my share for the global event to make sure we "made it." Now, it looks pretty secure, so I can relax.
Axes, saws and shovels are nice and practical. However, they aren't "fun" which sounds childish, but what is Halloween if not a "childish" event? It's not rational to want decorations rather than tools, but it IS rational to prefer receiving decorations that require diamonds in large quantities rather than tools which can be picked up for a fraction of a single day's diamond inventment in Tom.
I would have put the candy cauldron in storage. It has a "Christmas" candy cane as the dominant feature, and the overall impression is "Easter basket" with all the colors. However, I still would have been excited to get it. Childish? Yes. Irrational?? You bet! But it would have been a "treat". I was always excited to get any kind of candy in my trick-or-treat bag rather than something "wholesome".
I'm happy, though. I got my haunted birdhouse--the "chocolate" of prizes!!
It looks like everyone gets the haunted birdhouse for their last personal goal. I got all decorations, except the 10 axes for the first prize (which I think everyone also gets), and I'm thrilled. They are all displayed, even the tacky ones. :o
I expected to like this event more than I actually do.
The first kicker was where I realized how little I was being paid for the pies i contributed.
The 10 axes were great, the shovels went right to my RSS and when I won the candy cauldron I left it in storage and sold off the rest of my pumpkins.
I even sold off a few pumpkin pies as I had them queued up already for my pie oven.
Decorations aren't my thing.
I did appreciate the 57% off deal on diamonds and did take advantage of that.
So im not complaining, not demanding anyone change it. Clearly there are people loving this event and that's great. I'm just adding my point of view.
To me the best kind of events are more engaging. Like the Visitor Event. It's true, the DD becomes a desert during that event but it still works for me and every time a visitor buys hundreds of something from me at a sweet price im just tickled all over again. And I am off to the DD once again to replenish my stock.
I like this kind of event too and I enjoyed getting all the different prizes at each stage, but my wish would be for one-off items as a prize, and that they were more realistic objects that you would see on a farm or in a town, not SC's idea of a statue. They are just weird imo. I can't think that is a hard thing for the programmers to do? :confused:
I don't care for the visitors event. I did it a couple of times, just for the challenge, but at this point I don't need coins, so for me it's not worth disrupting my whole system. Now I mostly ignore it.
Agree that the decorative items could be less weird. The easter basket was nice, but we didn't win it.
The programmers obviously can think of more realistic things for a farm, because they are in the game. A hay wagon. A tractor. The windmill (not in the store, but still).
Maybe they want the event global prizes to be unique items, and want to keep the more realistic items to sell in the store?
So, obviously... Variety is the spice of events. :)
