People use level as a status symbol. The point of a status symbol is for people to see it. My sexy convertible is much more enjoyable when I'm driving it around than when it's gathering dust in a garage.

you should already know the reason, with so many gold shields most players just get bored of checking and seeing average level players... its only the higher league players people check

yes but the point is it is impossible to get up to high cup level without gemming! Marika is basically saying the game cant be completed unless you spend money!

I have, to 2600... but I couldnt compete with the 11 level 3 dragon armies that would attack me all the time, and with fully maxxed bases.... with less loot in the update i cant even stay at 2200 for long as I run out...

if what Marika is saying is true.. why have they waited so long to change things if it was the initial point of the game? and why cant they add levels along side it?

Of course the people who spend money will do better. Thus far, though, Supercell has done really well to ensure people can have a good game experience without paying tons of money. What basis do you have to suggest they won't continue to do so?

Also you have no idea how the league system will ultimately affect game play and what bases will get to what trophy levels. Clearly there will still be a point where gemming is the only way, but there is plenty of status to earn before getting to that point.
