I takes me every time 7 days to upgrade my heroes. After these 7 days I have enough DE farmed to start the next update, so I'm always in war without at least one of my heroes. This is a bug in the game because hero strength is considered while match making, but in the actual war you're not allowed to use them. Huge misbalance in the game. Please fix this!Quote:

Yes, it is annoying when Spell Factory is being upgrade, but you can sit out of a war or two during that.
At TH9 when you have to upgrade your heroes 20 times for a normal upgrade time of 7 days each, that is a big part of the game you would be sitting out. Even if you upgrade them both simultaneously.
Not sure what the thinking was originally, but Clan Wars is now a huge part of CoC, and this should be fixed.
The only reason they have waited so long to bring this is a blatant cash grab. They know a lot of people will gem hero time and rely on that to boost gem sales.
However since the advent of clan levels this is now made even worse. Reward clans for war? Great. Prevent the same people from war if they want to max their base? Lousy.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned before as there are way too many pages to read every post.
I think the best way supercell can handle this is to make heroes available at all times during upgrades whether it be for clan wars or normal base. The way they could implement is by upgrading the Hero alters. That way heroes could be used while the alters are upgrading and since alters are really useless it would not cause any problems. This way heroes could be used even while upgrading. I have always been hesitant to upgrade heroes for the very reason of not being able to use them. I only upgraded them when the hero ability update released at kept them at level 10 unless i had way too much dark elixir and was getting raided because of it. Anywho... by allowing the heroes alters to be the marker of hero level they could easily allow heroes to be upgraded and still be used during upgrades.

I tend to agree with this idea it would make things better over all. BUT with the ability to opt out of clan wars now unlike before, you can just opt out while your hero upgrades. It will make the game less fun since a large part of the fun for me is the clan wars, but it does leave an option of which it once did not.
I know this is a huge moneymaker for supercell but seriously you guys are a billion dollar company. This would probably be the best update by far to all the clashers out there.

I joined the forums just for this. It's like sc is trolling us with opt-out. based on my non-scientific evaluation, approx. 5% of opt-outs for wars are do to legitimate reasons (RL, not interested in wars, choosing who fights instead of dropping trophies/leaving the clan when having extra members). The other 95% of opt-outs are do to hero upgrades and to a lesser extent spell factory upgrades.
I can deal with the spell factory - it's stupid but it's only a few days and it's done. Hero upgrades for most people are a constant. Many options have been suggested. IMO, adding a 3rd hero is the most fair, and then only being able to raid/war with 2 (those with max heroes shouldn't feel like their effort was wasted). But just making heroes always available during wars would be the easiest fix and solve the problem.

I sincerely have not read all the posts on this thread, so i apologize if this have been said before. But i think that an easy solution to this would be having heroes upgrade on the lab, self explanatory. It is really hard for people who war 24/7 to upgrade their heroes, im sitting with my lvl 19 AQ because i dont want to war 7 days without her, the war community needs this (those that do not have the money to buy gems).

Let me make an analogy for those who say it's so simple:
Pretend the game Clash of Clans is some big building, and parts of the code are the pillars. If you change the way hero's are coded, it could mess up other features, or make other completely different things not work all together. In our analogy, changing the code would be like removing the pillar for a new one, you can't just simply do that or the whole structure could collapse.
Two more facts:
1) When saved bases were implemented they were tested out and revised for a long period of time at SuperCell.
Guess what? Even after release the changes made to saved bases cause downward xbows to shoot up.
2) There is a problem that has been around for a very long time where whenever you log in or out of view a base etc it adds short amounts of time to builders adding up. They refused to fix this due to it being considered negligible compared to the amount of code that would be affected to fix it. Something as simple as that would require completely rewriting a large framework of the code.
So for those who argue "but we can use upgrading defenses", your war defense isn't actually you defending its a whole separate code with a pseudo-base. As for your attacks? There is one branch and copy of code with its functions that allow for attacking to work the way it does. In my experience as a programmer, they would either need to rewrite the code to check if it's a war attack, and then run a separate code that syncs heroes back into the composition OR rewrite an entire new attack branch of code to be used for war attacks. This is a large amount of work in either case both coming with many possible complications and possible losses in game efficiency.
I just wish people weren't so ignorant. There was even a statement from the staff that it's not ruled out(possibly being worked on) but that it's difficult to do.

I'm sure many of us, like myself work in IT... your exaggerating how difficult something like this is. Compared to something like Clan Wars, this would be a minor change, depending on how you want to implement it - dozens of which have been suggested. Just saving your hero level at the time war starts for war attacks and allowing your heroes to be available for both attacks - remove the rest time since you can only attack twice - is not a difficult change... As someone that is Town Hall 9, and really just focusing on walls/heros before I go to 10, I am going to spend most of my next 2 months without the use of heros, and it is a bit sad.
I understand others have gone this route in the past, as it was the only choice, but that doesn't meant, moving forward it has to stay the same.
I think everyone understands it might take some time to code, but I really wonder how much of this is motivated by Money. as players, we don't know how likely people are to Rush heros so they are ready more often. I have multiple friends that do spend gems occasionally and they are all talking about doing this specifically, so to "fix" this issue, could cost the company money.

While I do agree with the "can't use spells during SF upgrade" analogy I think that this is necessary. Supercell is currently putting much more emphasis on clan wars with the last upgrade and a couple heroes upgrading by some top players can be the difference between a victory and a defeat.

Yes I agree that supercell would lose revenue if they implemented usable heroes but I would bet there would be more people willing to play longer and put more effort into upgrading their heroes if they could fully contribute to their clan during war.
