Totally agree. It should be the same as when you're, for example, upgrading a wizard tower.
If you bother to read back through SC's replies this is not a small issue that is easy to fix with a few lines of code. It is not ruled out and we may yet (and probably should) see this implemented but not in the short term. So now we have a compromise fix. Be happy that they did something about it even though they couldn't do exactly what you wanted.Quote:

Heroes should either be always available for Clan Wars attacks only or the upgrades should be done in the Laboratory like other troops. By the time my hero is done upgrading I usually have enough DE to start another upgrade. However, I have to delay upgrading my heroes if I want to participate in Clan Wars. It's very frustrating to have to sit out of wars for a week at a time. The Opt In/Out is a great feature, but not a permanent solution to this issue.

really doubt that is the issue. most people do not gem heros but gem boost their recovery time. they shorten recovery time to appease some but yes this last update was heavily geared towards Clan Wars clans like mine but at the end of the day the ONLY update I care about is being able to use my heros at their lesser value while they upgrade since they are not only an attacking troop but a defensive one. As far as this not being an easy fix with a few lines of code, it actually would be, but like many companys such as Apple, they do not want to give all you want right away...leave them wanting more...Quote:

Heroes are very useful in war, especially at TH7. Makes me not want to save up and upgrade my BK if I know I won't be able to use him in war.

Now that we want to war as much as possible to lvl up clan, heroes must be made available during upgrade. They take a week and I always have one upgrading.

I am currently so fed up with Supercell. This update is LONG overdue, along with mismatched war searches. But since this petition is for the ability to use heroes during war regardless of the upgrade I say it's a great idea.
Supercell, check this out (only applies during war). Other defenses are used at current level in war if they are upgrading. We are allowed to use current troops, at current level in war regardless if they are updating. WHY NOT heroes?
P.S., your support function sucks! It's like you have a monkey replying. Tech tip, reloading the game rarely fixes the issues and no your reply is never helpful. All I ask is for you to address the issues within the forums.
Wish this was implemented in this update. Hopefully sometime in the future.

Im now at the point where i only have 1 active hero at any given time.
I'm all for making heroes usable. My suggestion was to make the Hero upgrades in the Laboratory so they are available for raids as well. I searched the ruled out thread and this idea is not even in consideration. This needs to be added to the sticky on ruled out threads on whether or not it's going to happen.
The other option is just allow the Heroes to wake up out of their upgrades during a War attack. That would be the simplest solution.

Supercell has responded to this topic. Twice actually. Once in a different thread and once in this thread too (and linked back to the original comment). Long story short, this is not a simple fix. They did not give specifics but the code change will be substantial which makes this a long term goal. I don't get why they're aren't available for use while upgrading at all, even outside of clan wars. But, seriously, I wouldn't even mind the crazy cost and time of high hero upgrades if they were only available for wars while they upgraded! Which makes me wonder: why are the same heroes that are unavailable for offense during wars while upgrading available to defend during the same war in which they are upgrading...

I completely agree that the game needs this; however, think about how many of us have gemmed our hero upgrade to use them in war. SC has to consider how doing this could potentially impact their profit margins, which is why I doubt it'll ever happen :( or they'd have done it by now.

(There are several technical issues with having heroes available during war but not in multiplayer (not to mention the weird combinations possible - heroes defending, regenerating, attacking in war right before the upgrade finishes etc etc) and one of the reasons is that, while we take "snapshots" of War Bases for defense in war, we do no such thing for attacking armies.
In short: to my knowledge this idea is not ruled out, but it's not something I see happening anytime soon due to its technical complexity)

Not using heroes while upgrading causes to reduce motivation of clan wars and effects everything in clan.
Heroes must be used in clan wars while upgrading with current level, no need using in multi player attack.

We have been forced to never have 50v50 wars because at least two members are always upgrading heroes... getting frustrating.
not sure if i commented on this already or not since there is literally 100 PAGES!! i have never seen the coc community so unanimous about an addition to the game. this really needs to happen to keep wars even especially now when waiting longer on wars costs u xp to upgrade ur clan emblem.
