Getting people to buy gems is how SC survives as a company. People buying gems because they can't use their heroes while upgrading is one of the main reasons people can't use their heroes while upgrading.

If heroes were upgraded in the lab, your reasoning would make sense. Since the actual building that the hero comes from is what is being upgraded, It functions like an upgrading barrack. Meaning that the building cannot train any more troops, and any troops that were currently training are put on hold until the building finishes upgrading.

Next people will want to make spells while they upgrade their laboratory.

YESSS 3+ days of non heroe usage Is really conflicting for the clan and clanmates .

I think this is more about inertia then greed. Heroes were around a long time before clan wars came out. Your army is composed of whatever you have available. Heroes are no exception.

But with the coming of clan wars, this has become a huge problem. Help us out here Supercell!

It really is a pain to time the hero Upgrades between the clan wars.

If you ask me, heroes should be available all the time even while upgrading. Do not have all giants blocked when upgrading them in the spell factory, so why the heroes? If you are good at farming dark elixir, your heroes will be unavailable most of the time.
