I dont see how this many people can agree with this. There is no reason that your barb king and archer queen SHOULD be able to be used in war attacks. A war attack is still a regular attack, just on an odd landscape. If your BK and AQ are available to attack for war when they are upgrading, they would have to be available for regular attacks. This thread makes no sense

No

You raid with troops that are ready to battle. You cant raid on multiplayer with heroes upgrading. They made clan wars attacking like multiplayer on purpose. If they wanted you to use heroes in war while upgrading, they would have added it by now.

Dont constantly upgrade your troops either. Upgrade your hero, once it finishes get in a war or two, then upgrade it again.
