Players should just ignore the league system and trophy, and drop to the trophy range with the best loot.
The league/loot bonus does NOT compensate for the increase in difficulty per raid and decrease in loot at higher trophy range.
Fun fact: Most trophy hunters are pretty poor themselves. They dont even have enough resource for themselves to upgrade their buildings. Hence most of them just upgrade mines and barracks and collectors.
If they do not have enough resources for themselves, what makes you think they will have loot for you?
And did i mention most trophy base out there are th9?
I would imagine a th9 that is able to climb in trophy doesnt have too shabby a base himself.
TL:DR; screw the league. Unless the loot bonus + loot from raid - cost of army/spell can reap a higher profit than farming, which is quite impossible.

1400~1500 is the best thus far.
Anyway the trend is pretty easy to spot.
Previously, 1250~1400 is the best due to the 1250 trophy achievement.
Now 1400-1500 is the best due to the "gold" league.
The best range is where the majority are at.
Go figure why most people are in gold III
I know I've lowered my standards regarding which bases to pass and which to raid. I used to pass-up the little guys with lower TH, but times are tough so I'll hit anyone with at least 75K. When I'm really desperate, I'll even go after 50K bases. So I guess in my case, instead of the new updates helping the little guys, it's caused me to raid them even more now.
I agree, I'm only at 2k range because my clan wanted 2 weeks of "Trophy farming", so I still used barbs and archers but actually tried to get trophies and not loots.Quote:

This is something I have already considered but the biggest stumbling block is the defensive nature of the base vs the cost of the appropriate army required to beat the bases defences. In majority of cases the profit margin on each raid makes 80k untenable.Quote:

I ve been hitting th7s for 50k to 100k golds all along, so no loot complains from me. Walls nearly all lvl8 (7more to go), wt lvl 7, archer and cannon tower lvl11 and mortars all max. My elixir is always full at 8 mil. Using only Wbs, barbs, globins and archers. Plus, since u dont need to use ur full camps, u can raid quick and build fast. And u don't lose much golds from hitting next too often. But, I do leave those poor th7s at 39% whenever i can. take it as revenge of the th9s against the loot penalty....hehe
