I. The new loot system will give bonus reward or penalties, based on trophies won and lost from the battle.

II. The following formula will be used:

Gold and Elixir reward/penalty = 10000*#trophies*town hall multiplier*townhall differencial factor
Dark elixir reward/penalty = 50*#trophies*town hall multiplier*townhall differencial factor

Where the town hall multiplier is:
TH 7 = 0.4
TH 8 = 0.6
TH 9 = 0.8
TH 10 = 1.0
(TH 6 and below is not affected)

For winning attacks (losing defense), the defender's townhall level multiplier will be used for the calculation.

For losing attacks (or winning defense), the attacker's townhall level multiplier will be used instead.

III. Unlike league bonus, there is no additional loot ‘generated’, and therefore no concern for currency inflation. Because:

a. The bonus loot is entirely proportional to trophies earned or lost. Thus the resource reward to the winning player will come entirely from loot penalty from the losing opponent

b. The loot bonus and penalty will be added or subtracted from

1. Loots won/lost in the battle

Followed by (if it exceeds the above)

2. The player’s storages and collectors

AND

3. In the rare cases where the losing player has few to no resource in his storages, the total resource penalty for losing player (and hence the reward to winner) CANNOT exceed the total loot from the battle plus the quantity losing player possess in his storages+collectors

4. Similarly if the winners storage is full, the excess reward/penalty will not be amended/deducted to both players storage. This is to prevent 'loot loss'

This is important, since both 3 and 4 keeps the economy in check by preventing inflation and deflation. Since there is no loot inflation, no revenue will be lost by Supercell.

IV. This system is quite COMPLICATED for most players to mentally calculate on the spot. Therefore, in the attack screen, ‘bonus loot available’ will be displayed right next to trophies available in parenthesis





Positive features


1. Skilled players will frequently be rewarded. Unskilled players will be rewarded less often and less as much.

2. Rewards are increasingly higher for higher town hall players, due to TH multiplier. This is intentional, and designed to be extremely helpful, because:

a. Higher level troops are increasingly more expensive to train

b. TH10 players suffer from town hall differential loot penalty, but no loot ‘bonus’ that TH7s get to enjoy. High bonus for winning trophy will compensate for low TH9/10 loots

c. The amount of loot available in high level player’s storages is too low in terms of scaling. Higher TH players require much more gold/elixir to upgrade his base, not to mention higher nexting cost and higher army costs, so they require more loot. The loot bonus reward for good plays will help offset this problem.

Conversely, the penalties for poor plays are relatively ‘lenient’ toward new, lower town hall players.

3. The bonus reward is largely proportional to the time and cost it took to train the army. This is also intentional and is very helpful:

a. 2~3star reward will largely offset the full TH9+ GOWIWI, GOWIPE etc armies which are expensive and time consuming to train.

b. 1star rewards is far greater than the cost it takes to train barch or BAM. But if you do barch, sometimes or rarely you run the risk of not being able to hit 50%.

4. Low townhall level is protected from predation. A TH10 can choose to go for easy 30 trophy vs a TH7, but loot bonus will be only 10000*30*0.4*25 = 30k gold and elixir.

5. Low townhall level players are protected from losing attacks against high town halls. A TH7 losing 20 trophy from TH10 by failing attack is penalized only 10000*20*0.4*25 = 20k

Overall potential positive impact and ramification it will have on the entire game:


1. For high level players, farming under this system with full GOWIWI army will net comparable profit per hour compared to collector farming with barch.

2. This will not hurt the collector raiders, especially for low THs where penalty is insignificant. Higher TH that wish to collector raid are encouraged to deploy full barch army and go for 50% win and extra bonus loot, as opposed to dropping few archers or goblins and losing.

3. It will be much easier for TH7s and 8s to earn DE. As a result fewer players will have to resort to zapping DE storages

4. Fewer players will leave town hall outside the base. Large majority of bases you see will be hybrid bases. No real point in leaving TH out, since winning defenses will also protect your resources anyway!

5. Lessened competition for collectors, thus lessened search time for collector raids.

6. Matchmaking will be GREATLY improved within few months after implementing this system!

Rationale:
This system encourages only winning attacks, and discourage trophy dropping. In fact there will be no need to trophy drop, since reward system will eliminate the need for players to drop their trophies to 'farming ranges' to find inactive bases. Active players will very likely maintain themselves at high trophy ranges as possible. Inactive players will drop a bit lower, but rarely below 2 THs below their level, as players will not be able to 50% them and give them defense wins.

Therefore this system will naturally segregate bases into different trophy ranges as below, in terms of different townhall levels, relative base strength, as well as activity level.

Trophy range 1: strong to moderate TH10
Trophy range 2: weak TH10s, strong to moderate TH9s
Trophy range 3: weak TH9s, strong to moderate TH8s, inactive or rushed TH10s (and few inactive TH9s)
Trophy range 4: weak TH8s, strong to moderate TH7s, inactive or rushed TH9s (and few inactive TH10s)
Trophy range 5: everything weak TH7 or below, with inactive TH8s and occasional inactive 9s

I.E. If you are a fresh TH9, you will mostly find strong TH8~medium TH9 bases, along with weak rushed TH10s in your ideal farming range. Therefore you wont find annoying TH6's and 7s with no loot, nor untouchable max TH10s. Therefore, time it takes to find the target base along with 'nexting' cost will be significantly reduced.

If the player feels his trophy climbed up too high (i.e. he starts seeing more TH10s and less raidable TH9s), he may choose to drop few trophies, preferably when his storages are empty to avoid penalty.



This new system will greatly reward following types of behavior

1. Performing skilled attacks to annihilate enemy villages and 3starring attacks. It is also more rewarding if the opponent happened to be your town hall level or above. Refer to the specific case scenario #1s below

2. Building good defenses and winning defenses. Winning defense will most likely reimburse significant portion of the resources lost in battle. In fact, you may even earn extra if attacker failed very badly! Refer to the specific case scenario #2s below

3. Calculating and assessing base beforehand. Does this base reward lot of trophies? Will you be able to 1star, 2star, or 3star this base?



This new system will penalize the following types of players the most:

1. Bad players who rush town halls

2. [High level] players who zap DE – NOTE: penalty is so great for higher TH, that no one will even attempt this. Townhall 7s receive light penalty (refer to case scenario #4 below)

3. Chinese farmers who use bots – bots mostly pick poor targets/tend to lose raids often

4. People who intentionally lose at 39%

Unless the enemy storage is nearly empty, you wont be able to take all of his loot. Plus if the storage is nearly empty, no player would want to raid him since there are obviously more rewarding bases in his range.

Also in a rare case player does lose all resources, player isnt necessarily completely boostrapped, since he can win some loot into storages by winning defenses. If the player sets up a really nice deceptive trap base and wins multiple defenses, he may be able to win up to million resources from defense alone (up to 200k per win)

Here are good specific case scenarios:

Case 1: TH10 finds a difficult TH10 opponent base that contains 500k/500k available loots. The base has max upgraded defenses, but the attacker sees some weakness which leads him to believe he can at least win 2 stars. The TH10 deploys full GOWIWI plus both of his heroes. There will be three possible outcomes:

Case 1a: Complete annihilation: His placement and timing of his troops+spells is utter perfection – he earns a 3star victory for 30 trophies. His loot reward is: 10000*30*1.0 = 300k/300k, and walks away with whopping 800k/800k total. The defender is further penalized 300k/300k in addition to the loots he already lost, for his poor base design. The defender will later log in to assess the damage, and improve his base design accordingly.

Case 1b: Partial annihilation: Same scenario as above, but suppose the attacker made anywhere from minor to noticeable mistake in deployment or timing. In case of winning 1star (and hence 10 trophies), the additional loot bonus is 10000*10*1.0 = 100k/100k. In case of winning 2stars, the reward is 200k/200k. The reward is quite good, but not as amazing as above.

Case 1c: Completely botched attack: The attacker accidentally spams all his wizards before his golems, panics and proceed to accidentally spam freeze spell on the ground instead of golem, panics and forgets to deploy golems until a full minute later, deploy and lose his witches next to a random wizard tower, forgets to use his clan castle, and everything goes haywire. He manages to only steal 200k/200k of the opponent’s loot that is outside the base. He cause only 25% destruction and loses the battle for 20 trophies. For his exceptionally terrible play, the loot penalty is 10000*20*1.0 = 200k/200k, which is subtracted from the loots he had won. He goes home limping, with no loot (defender keeps all his loot). He goes on to learn from his mistake that day to improve as a player.


Case 2: winning defenses: You are owner of a nearly maxed TH7 base (walls, teslas, everything). You log out at night after spending most of the resources in your storages. In the morning, a terribad rushed TH8 base that you 3starred the other day decides to revenge you.

Case 2a:
Despite low quantity of loot you have available (50k/50k mostly from collectors), the TH8 proceeds with revenge against better judgement. His barch destroys your outer collector for 50k/50k, but he only scores 40% and loses the battle. You win 20 trophies for winning defense. For your good defense, you are rewarded 10000*20*0.6*1.1=132k/132k. Your good defense not only reimbursed you the loot that you lost, but gave you a small profit.

Case 3: Collector farming

Case 3a: TH7 player discovers an awesome TH10 base with rich collectors outside of the base. He drops some goblins and wins 250k/250k, and loses the battle for -20 trophies. The loot penalty for losing will be 10000*20*0.4*0.25 = 20k/20k. Thus the penalty is negligible compared to the reward, for low town hall player collector raiding inactive high level base that they cannot beat.

Case 3b: a TH10 player discovers the same TH10 base, and uses goblin collector raid to steal 250k/250k. The loot penalty in his case is 10000*20 =200k/200k. Therefore end result of using few goblins to pick off collectors is 50k/50k. In this case, the TH10 can probably earn better gold per hour by training GOWIPE/GOWIWI armies and actually winning trophies. Or at least barching like below.

Case 3c: same scenario as 3b, but the attacker collector raids with full barch as opposed to dropping few goblins. Attacker manages to get a 1star 50% win and wins a 10star. The loot bonus is 10000*10*1.0=100k each.



Case 4: The DE zappers

Case 4a: TH 7 player decides to zap nearly capped DE storage of a TH 9 player. The TH7 leaves the battle and loses 20 trophies. TH 7 spends 3 lightning spells to steal ~1000 DE. Because he lost the battle, the loot penalty along with TH differential factored in for will subtract 50*.4*20*0.5 = 200 DE, along with 40k gold and elixir, which is reimbursed back to the TH9 player. TH7 player walks away with 800 DE, with moderate penalty in gold and elixir.

Case 4b: On the other hand, a lazy TH 9 player decides to zap another TH 9 player’s DE storage. The TH9 steals ~1000 DE and loses 20 trophies. The penalty will be 50*20*0.8 = 800 DE, along with 200k gold and elixir which will be rewarded to the defender. The penalty is great and no real net DE is earned from zapping.

In fact he couldve won entire 2500 DE available along with the additional bonus (up to 1200 if he won 3star for 30 trophies), along with everything in the drills if he had GOWIWIed.

Even if just used cheap barch and won 50%, he could have won 400 DE without even touching the storage (assuming 10 trophies) plus the drills.








I’ve carefully worked with the numbers to come up with a solution, in which I believe the amount of reward/penalty is reasonable. However, further adjustments can be suggested, along with more suggestions to improve on this system.

This post will be constantly edited for improvements and optimizations!

Zapping is good for the game and should not be mitigated in any way.

Also dark elixir rewards for winning attacks will be quite significant and will often be in the hundreds, even for TH7s if they defeat a TH8. There will be no need to zap DE anymore.

If you want my kneejerk reaction to the entire thing, I don't like it on the surface. There is enough information to warrant further consideration that may change my mind or re-enforce my first instinct. Food for thought though.

Would this not encourage Maxed TH10s lowering their trophies to find ideal TH9 targets worth 30-34 cups? I'd think the 0.8 multiplier would not be enough to deter this.

Such a severe penalty on people losing raids would absolutely be the end of trophy hunting for anyone below TH10. It's hard enough as is to avoid running low on resources by the cost of these high level armies.

if this is implemented, I will go down to lower leagues to 3 star many bases (idc how strong a TH9 is, I will completely 3-star it) just for the bonus...

reward / penalty is designed to be not very severe for lower TH7s (.4 multiplier vs TH10s 1.0), and penalty is further reduced if townhall differential is great

3starring bunch of TH9s will bring you back up in lot of trophies quickly, youd need to go down in order to see them again

As this system discourage people from dropping cups, to drop lots of cups without much penalty your storage must be nearly empty, meaning it cant be done every time on demand.

1.6 mil is a lot to lose for anyone. Especially with DE factored into the equation.

Also Revenges...I just recently revenged someone for about 40+ trophies. He attacked me when he was on his way up and i was on my down in leagues. When i wiped his base, i stole about 400k of each resource and about 200 DE using loonion. by your formula, another (10000*40*.8)= 320,000 of both resources, as well as (100*40*.8)= 3200 DE if im using that formula correctly. Thats a grand total of 1.4 Mil Resoucres and 3400DE for literally a 150,000 Elixir and 150 DE Cost Raid. I was a th8 and had level 3 loons, level 1 minions, lvl 2 rage, lvl 3 heal and a level 1 king, against a Th9 who had underleveled AD/Wiz towers. Taking 800K from him with such a weak comp was punishment enough, as well as 40 trophies

I'm not a big fan of ideas that punish players. Punishments are not fun and should be reserved for the the most egregious of offenses (i.e. ♥♥♥♥♥ing).

Furthermore punishing "bad players" is really wrong. Rushing your TH is a mistake tactically, but a system specifically designed to punish doing it? Really?

Also love the racism..."Chinese farmers who use bots". SC should punish botters (not just the Chinese ones) with a ban. Period.

Other, legal, activity should not be punished. Instead certain behaviors should be incentivized. Think along the lines of league bonuses (except with more oomph as the league bonuses have proven to be ineffective). There should instead be additional bonuses for maintaining higher trophy counts. Allowing other folks that want to continue to collector farm to still do so.

possibly the numbers can be adjusted further down the road if it is too extreme

but in the end, if you lose a lot of resources from losing defense, you can also earn a lot of resources from winning attacks.

So i believe numbers are quite reasonable, and in fact within quite a sweet spot. They are large enough to bring up maxed gowiwi/gowipe farming for TH10s to reach parity with TH7 players collector farming, but not large enough to completely eliminate the grind.

Also this will increase the overall loot circulation among active players, increase the number of profitable bases, and as a side result also greatly increase the number of collector raidable bases.

I wouldnt say 'punish', but rather penalize. It wouldnt be that debilitating for gameplay unless its an extreme case like a TH10 with level 3 walls, level 3 cannons and level 1 troops.

Also no racism here i am asian myself. Most of the botters happen to be chinese and only commercially available bot happens to be in chinese language

I would be all for this. Anyone that barches collectors knows how to easily 50% a base. so now i get the easy collector loot plus the one star bonus, plus the trophy bonus. 1,000,000 collector raids? Who could complain about that. Why would i even consider building a 350K war army when i can build my 40K barch and profit near a mil loot? That would definitely help out higher level players with their upgrades. You did put a lot of thought into this and i like the effort but why not just put all the inactive bases back into the player pool and continue like it was before SC tried to tamper with it?

SC did not tamper with it. At least they say they didn't. However, there are way more active players with more joining every day. The more active players there are, the worse loot gets. We do not need more of the same. There needs to be a completely new economic system put in place that puts the focus on active players raiding active players instead of active players raiding the collectors of inactive ones.

Active players can not produce enough resources on their own and if we continue to take loot from each other the game will become utterly impossible to tolerate. That is the direction the game is heading now. Inactive bases need to be available otherwise progress will be so slow that people will lose interest in the game.

This is a false assumption. The collectors of active players can not produce enough resources on their own. The neat thing about resources in a virtual environment is they are unlimited. SC can create them out of thin air.

Why do you assume that all the benefits you earn for winning have to take the form of loot stolen from your opponent?

I began playing this game at the time that SC introduced the loot percentage penalty so i am unfamiliar with how it worked prior to February of this year.

However, why not make all loot from a base available up to a max point. Meaning, if i am raiding a TH on my own level and you set a max loot reward at 350K, why not make the first 350K of that loot be available. Right now the game is basically punishing the active player that builds up their storages and protects the player that sits around with a low loot level and basically gives them a false shield. No one is going to raid a base that has 500K loot because the loot penalty would drop that down to a pointless amount that would not warrant the time or resources to attack it.

Now if that same base were sitting around with that same amount of loot and 350K of that 500K total was available that would create a whole different scenario. You could still use the modifiers when attacking up or down, but this would essentially the make majority of bases possible targets. seems pretty simple and straight forward.

So if I read this correctly this would discourage farming? So in turn th 7 would have loot to zap from higher townhalls. And people who have rushed ths would gain no loot from the higher leauges since they would be constantly raided and most likey quit playing. Since if they drop trophies they will have a loot peantly. And for new players at about 100-800 trophies would have access to all these abandon high lvl bases with with decent resources and get a loot bonus. Encouraging them to rush their th since they are getting more loot. This would lead to a never ending cycle.

The idea behind the current loot system is to make it easier for weaker folks to save their loot while at the same time making more loot available than was before.

It used to be the max that could be stolen from storages was 20% up to a max of 200k regardless of what TH level you were. I think the new system is better and more fair.

The problem is that as you move up in TH level, the army required to continue to loot equal strength targets becomes longer and more expensive to build. As a result it becomes far more profitable to continue to build weak troops and attack inactive loot rich collector bases as opposed to building strong troops and attacking the storages of strong active bases. This has been an issue with CoC since the beginning. Unfortunately as the game becomes more popular, this method of loot acquisition becomes more unsustainable.

My stance is that the loot penalty should be irrelevant. There mere act of attacking and winning should be profitable at higher trophy levels regardless of the amount of loot the base your attacking contains. Granted loot rich bases would still have better payouts, but what I really want to happen is when a TH7 base shows up in masters, the TH10 player gets excited because of the easy win and easy loot. The TH7 loses as much loot as before, but other loot incentives make the attack worth it for the TH10 anyway.

No farming collector means less loot in storage = economic loss

You can still collector raid. You just need 50%, which would require fully commited barch army as opposed to few goblins


There will still be collector raids, but players will be more inclined to go for 50% win. In addition there will be decent win bonus loot if the player gets 1star won.

Collector raids are important since it transfer loots from inactive player to active players economy. Arguably new system is even better for the economy since greater portion of inactive players loot in addition to 50% of collectors can be rewarded for 1star wins.

The beauty of the mathematics of this new system is that TH7s and TH8s up to certain extent will not be affected that greatly (the loot for TH7 and 8s are mostly fine as it is), but reward is more significant for TH9s and even greater for TH10s.

Also this new system does not penalize lower players that go for collector raiding high level inactive bases. But it does encourages the player to pull 50% win IF they are raiding some one around their own level.

Same for DE zapping for TH7s, it still is pretty good profit and worth doing, as long as they target TH9s and 10s. TH8s and above will no longer need to zap since they still win decent bonus for winning trophies.

I have a strong feeling the loot system was changed so that you can't ever rob someone completely of their resources so that they'd have to bootstrap their troops with collectors and partial raids. This doesn't account for that.

The way this is set up, if I'm understanding it completely and that's a big if since it's not written very clearly, I'd get about 168,000 for 3-starring any base. That's not a lot considering the cost of a 3-star capable army.

Unless the enemy storage is nearly empty, you wont be able to take all of his loot. Plus if the storage is nearly empty, no player would want to raid him since there are obviously more rewarding bases in his range.

Also in a rare case player does lose all resources, player isnt necessarily completely boostrapped, since he can win some loot into storages by winning defenses. If the player sets up a really nice deceptive trap base and wins multiple defenses, he may be able to win up to million resources from defense alone (up to 200k per win)

The great thing is that the math is set up for reward to scale well with town hall. 3star attack for a TH10 player will 100k~330k additional loot and 500~1650 additional DE (assuming 10 to 33 trophy), which will cover large portion of his army cost

Lets focus less on penalty and more on rewards.

Penalty would only happen rarely on grave tactical blunders. At higher town hall levels, vast majority of attacks are won.

In fact at any townhall level, a fully commited max upgraded army should be capable of winning at least 1 star from a equivalently maxed defense base.

Therefore, the end result of this system is that loot will be increased in vast majority of raids, and decreased in few minority of the raids.

I'm totally against the idea of associating loot with trophies.

Instead of penalty to the defender, think of it as a reward for the attacker who pulled a difficult 3star against maxed TH10 base (theoretically very unlikely possibility)

The defender will wake up next morning and can probably earn all that back via bonuses from winning an exceptional 3star attack or 3 separate mediocre 1star attacks. (There are rewards too you know - you can steal more but at same time you lose more)

This doesn't seem right, there are not very many max th10 bases in the game and the ones who are only focus on pushing (they are maxed, nothing eft to upgrade no need for loot). So the chances of finding one are almost zero, then if you do find one the cost of the army required to 3 star it (which is close to impossible) far outweighs the loot made from the raid, not to mention the waiting times between training armies which would be at least 2 and a half hours with spells. It just doesn't seem profitable to me, I think I will just stick with BAM.

Above is a theoretical example. An extreme example where there is a 3star. Yes maxed out TH10s dont need loot, but fresh TH10s do

If you are of a fresh TH10 account, the improved matchmaking resulting from the new system will mostly match you near other fresh TH10s or upper TH9s. You wont find any annoying TH7s and 8s with no loots in your searches. Fresh TH10s will can mostly BAM other fresh TH10s or TH9s for 1star rewards. 1star rewards arent too extreme and should be around enough to cover the cost of BAM.

You will most likely not find any max TH10s near your range either. They should mostly be in upper champions league where players dont care about loots. Since they dont care about loots, they will most likely be targeted by upper or mid TH10s who decide to push there

Are you saying that the reward from all th10 will be the same? That sounds very unfair what if they are a premmie? I think it would be a better idea if it was based on base strength not townhall level and if trophies had nothing to do with it, just my opinion though :)

Inactive bases can slowly accumulate some loot in their storages via defensive wins, if they dip too low in trophies and get farmed by players 2TH below their level.

This accumulated loot will be circulated again once the said inactive base go back up in trophy, and gets 50%ed by some one 0~1 TH below their level.


The players with deadly inside collectors will more likely be targeted by players who target them for 2 or 3star raids. This happens once their collectors become ripe, and the raid appears very lucrative to the pushers that use costly army.

Its a very clever system :P

There is no other way to increase loot other than allowing to steal more. More loot when winning cannot exist without more loot lost when losing, otherwise there would be inflation and supercell would never allow.

I at first considerred simple solution of just increasing percentage of loot available to be stolen in storages, but i found this system to be more elegant and clever system to improve other areas of the game and not just loot.

And what is the complaint with losing resource when your defense fails and your base getting 3starred? That happens even as of now...

Im on the fence about this. I don't like the idea of penalising for having a farming base lots of people farm.this is really complex i feel like your average player would have trouble understanding this. I like the idea of making people straigize before atking and for once your cups held would be an accurate placement of where u actuly stand

What I would do:

(close to) Empty up my storages by building walls (keep 200 units in my army camps)

Drop as many trophies as possible (losing little gold, since I don't have more gold).

Kill off low lvl players for easy loot.

TH10 maxed gold mines could drop every 2,5 minutes or so by using gold from mines. Losing no loot and afterwards gaining A LOT of easy loot.

So no, it's way to abusable.

a TH7/TH8 can kill th6's th7 3 stars with ease. Making the bonus loot rather high.

Because of large strength difference between th7 and th6 army, and because loot is not a huge problem at lower levels, th6 and below are not included in the system

Th8 may decide to farm th7 and th9 may decide to farm th8 and vice versa, but

1. Loot receives double penalty from both TH multiplier and TH differential. Raiding TH8 net you bonus of 10000*0.6=6k per trophy, but raiding TH7 will net 10000*0.4*0.9=3.6k per trophy

2. Risk of successful revenge - for successful attack opponent gets boost from both multiplier and differential. Even if they revenge you for only 2star, loot will be approximately cancel out what you won from your 3star raid

Farming 1TH level below the loot is easier but you have to take above into consideration

How to protect loot when farming base is pinalty like that?

Thought about it some and read through most of the posts. Basically I don't like it. The penalty for attacking down is already adequate to prevent any functional abuse. There is certainly no reason to penalize collector raids more than they are. Basing the loot you get on the % of the base you destroy makes no logical sense and would have a very negative impact on the overall economy.

If you want to limit high TH farming lower TH it would be much easier to just artificially move inactive villages. something like this. I think we can all agree that somebody with full collectors can be considered an inactive player. Since it takes 50 hours for a lvl11 collector to fill up we can use 2 days offline as an accurate description of inactive. So once a village has been inactive for 48 hours their trophies no longer count for match making. An inactive TH8 is automatically matched as gold 2-3, TH9 as gold 1-crystal 3 and TH10 is matched as crystal 1-2. Once they log in their matchmaking goes back to actual trophy count again. If you consider farmers a problem this would help spread them out since their favorite targets would not be hovering wherever their natural defense could hold them (currently it seems like high silver to mid gold). Not sure I like the idea but it would be a much simpler way to incentivize trophy count segregation.

I never said anything about removing league bonus. league bonus is still there. this bonus is something that comes on top of loot+league bonus

It is highly doubtful Supercell will EVER add anything that is not zero sum (such as increasing league bonus, buffing collector, increasing clan war bonus, or adding more inactive base), because they would fear losing revenue from players gemming resources. This system is intentionally a zero sum one, so it actually has a chance of being implemented. This is the best method to improve loots via zero sum method, that I can think of.

IF the idea is not abusable, it might work out. Haven't given it enough thought to decide if it is or isn't.

Why would you farm if you were properly rewarded for winning?

Kudos for the work to come up with this and explain it well. That said, I don't think this will ever fly because it excessively rewards the 24/7 hard core CoC gamer and excessively cripples the casual gamer.
I also don't think this does much to botters. They don't care if they make a little less, they will just bot more to make up for it.

3. In the rare cases where the losing player has few to no resource in his storages, the total resource penalty for losing player (and hence the reward to winner) CANNOT exceed the total loot from the battle plus the quantity losing player possess in his storages+collectors

4. Similarly if the winners storage is full, the excess reward/penalty will not be amended/deducted to both players storage. This is to prevent 'loot loss'

This is important, since both 3 and 4 keeps the economy in check by preventing inflation and deflation. Since there is no loot inflation, no revenue will be lost by Supercell.

IV. This system is quite COMPLICATED for most players to mentally calculate on the spot. Therefore, in the attack screen, ‘bonus loot available’ will be displayed right next to trophies available in parenthesis





Positive features


1. Skilled players will frequently be rewarded. Unskilled players will be rewarded less often and less as much.

2. Rewards are increasingly higher for higher town hall players, due to TH multiplier. This is intentional, and designed to be extremely helpful, because:

a. Higher level troops are increasingly more expensive to train

b. TH10 players suffer from town hall differential loot penalty, but no loot ‘bonus’ that TH7s get to enjoy. High bonus for winning trophy will compensate for low TH9/10 loots

c. The amount of loot available in high level player’s storages is too low in terms of scaling. Higher TH players require much more gold/elixir to upgrade his base, not to mention higher nexting cost and higher army costs, so they require more loot. The loot bonus reward for good plays will help offset this problem.

Conversely, the penalties for poor plays are relatively ‘lenient’ toward new, lower town hall players.

3. The bonus reward is largely proportional to the time and cost it took to train the army. This is also intentional and is very helpful:

a. 2~3star reward will largely offset the full TH9+ GOWIWI, GOWIPE etc armies which are expensive and time consuming to train.

b. 1star rewards is far greater than the cost it takes to train barch or BAM. But if you do barch, sometimes or rarely you run the risk of not being able to hit 50%.

4. Low townhall level is protected from predation. A TH10 can choose to go for easy 30 trophy vs a TH7, but loot bonus will be only 10000*30*0.4*25 = 30k gold and elixir.

5. Low townhall level players are protected from losing attacks against high town halls. A TH7 losing 20 trophy from TH10 by failing attack is penalized only 10000*20*0.4*25 = 20k

Overall potential positive impact and ramification it will have on the entire game:


1. For high level players, farming under this system with full GOWIWI army will net comparable profit per hour compared to collector farming with barch.

2. This will not hurt the collector raiders, especially for low THs where penalty is insignificant. Higher TH that wish to collector raid are encouraged to deploy full barch army and go for 50% win and extra bonus loot, as opposed to dropping few archers or goblins and losing.

3. It will be much easier for TH7s and 8s to earn DE. As a result fewer players will have to resort to zapping DE storages

4. Fewer players will leave town hall outside the base. Large majority of bases you see will be hybrid bases. No real point in leaving TH out, since winning defenses will also protect your resources anyway!

5. Lessened competition for collectors, thus lessened search time for collector raids.

6. Matchmaking will be GREATLY improved within few months after implementing this system!

Rationale:
This system encourages only winning attacks, and discourage trophy dropping. In fact there will be no need to trophy drop, since reward system will eliminate the need for players to drop their trophies to 'farming ranges' to find inactive bases. Active players will very likely maintain themselves at high trophy ranges as possible. Inactive players will drop a bit lower, but rarely below 2 THs below their level, as players will not be able to 50% them and give them defense wins.

Therefore this system will naturally segregate bases into different trophy ranges as below, in terms of different townhall levels, relative base strength, as well as activity level.

Trophy range 1: strong to moderate TH10
Trophy range 2: weak TH10s, strong to moderate TH9s
Trophy range 3: weak TH9s, strong to moderate TH8s, inactive or rushed TH10s (and few inactive TH9s)
Trophy range 4: weak TH8s, strong to moderate TH7s, inactive or rushed TH9s (and few inactive TH10s)
Trophy range 5: everything weak TH7 or below, with inactive TH8s and occasional inactive 9s

I.E. If you are a fresh TH9, you will mostly find strong TH8~medium TH9 bases, along with weak rushed TH10s in your ideal farming range. Therefore you wont find annoying TH6's and 7s with no loot, nor untouchable max TH10s. Therefore, time it takes to find the target base along with 'nexting' cost will be significantly reduced.

If the player feels his trophy climbed up too high (i.e. he starts seeing more TH10s and less raidable TH9s), he may choose to drop few trophies, preferably when his storages are empty to avoid penalty.



This new system will greatly reward following types of behavior

1. Performing skilled attacks to annihilate enemy villages and 3starring attacks. It is also more rewarding if the opponent happened to be your town hall level or above. Refer to the specific case scenario #1s below

2. Building good defenses and winning defenses. Winning defense will most likely reimburse significant portion of the resources lost in battle. In fact, you may even earn extra if attacker failed very badly! Refer to the specific case scenario #2s below

3. Calculating and assessing base beforehand. Does this base reward lot of trophies? Will you be able to 1star, 2star, or 3star this base?



This new system will penalize the following types of players the most:

1. Bad players who rush town halls

2. [High level] players who zap DE – NOTE: penalty is so great for higher TH, that no one will even attempt this. Townhall 7s receive light penalty (refer to case scenario #4 below)

3. Chinese farmers who use bots – bots mostly pick poor targets/tend to lose raids often

4. People who intentionally lose at 39%

Case 1b: Partial annihilation: Same scenario as above, but suppose the attacker made anywhere from minor to noticeable mistake in deployment or timing. In case of winning 1star (and hence 10 trophies), the additional loot bonus is 10000*10*1.0 = 100k/100k. In case of winning 2stars, the reward is 200k/200k. The reward is quite good, but not as amazing as above.

Case 1c: Completely botched attack: The attacker accidentally spams all his wizards before his golems, panics and proceed to accidentally spam freeze spell on the ground instead of golem, panics and forgets to deploy golems until a full minute later, deploy and lose his witches next to a random wizard tower, forgets to use his clan castle, and everything goes haywire. He manages to only steal 200k/200k of the opponent’s loot that is outside the base. He cause only 25% destruction and loses the battle for 20 trophies. For his exceptionally terrible play, the loot penalty is 10000*20*1.0 = 200k/200k, which is subtracted from the loots he had won. He goes home limping, with no loot (defender keeps all his loot). He goes on to learn from his mistake that day to improve as a player.


Case 2: winning defenses: You are owner of a nearly maxed TH7 base (walls, teslas, everything). You log out at night after spending most of the resources in your storages. In the morning, a terribad rushed TH8 base that you 3starred the other day decides to revenge you.

Case 2a:
Despite low quantity of loot you have available (50k/50k mostly from collectors), the TH8 proceeds with revenge against better judgement. His barch destroys your outer collector for 50k/50k, but he only scores 40% and loses the battle. You win 20 trophies for winning defense. For your good defense, you are rewarded 10000*20*0.6*1.1=132k/132k. Your good defense not only reimbursed you the loot that you lost, but gave you a small profit.

Case 3: Collector farming

Case 3a: TH7 player discovers an awesome TH10 base with rich collectors outside of the base. He drops some goblins and wins 250k/250k, and loses the battle for -20 trophies. The loot penalty for losing will be 10000*20*0.4*0.25 = 20k/20k. Thus the penalty is negligible compared to the reward, for low town hall player collector raiding inactive high level base that they cannot beat.

Case 3b: a TH10 player discovers the same TH10 base, and uses goblin collector raid to steal 250k/250k. The loot penalty in his case is 10000*20 =200k/200k. Therefore end result of using few goblins to pick off collectors is 50k/50k. In this case, the TH10 can probably earn better gold per hour by training GOWIPE/GOWIWI armies and actually winning trophies. Or at least barching like below.

Case 3c: same scenario as 3b, but the attacker collector raids with full barch as opposed to dropping few goblins. Attacker manages to get a 1star 50% win and wins a 10star. The loot bonus is 10000*10*1.0=100k each.



Case 4: The DE zappers

Case 4a: TH 7 player decides to zap nearly capped DE storage of a TH 9 player. The TH7 leaves the battle and loses 20 trophies. TH 7 spends 3 lightning spells to steal ~1000 DE. Because he lost the battle, the loot penalty along with TH differential factored in for will subtract 50*.4*20*0.5 = 200 DE, along with 40k gold and elixir, which is reimbursed back to the TH9 player. TH7 player walks away with 800 DE, with moderate penalty in gold and elixir.

Case 4b: On the other hand, a lazy TH 9 player decides to zap another TH 9 player’s DE storage. The TH9 steals ~1000 DE and loses 20 trophies. The penalty will be 50*20*0.8 = 800 DE, along with 200k gold and elixir which will be rewarded to the defender. The penalty is great and no real net DE is earned from zapping.

In fact he couldve won entire 2500 DE available along with the additional bonus (up to 1200 if he won 3star for 30 trophies), along with everything in the drills if he had GOWIWIed.

Even if just used cheap barch and won 50%, he could have won 400 DE without even touching the storage (assuming 10 trophies) plus the drills.








I’ve carefully worked with the numbers to come up with a solution, in which I believe the amount of reward/penalty is reasonable. However, further adjustments can be suggested, along with more suggestions to improve on this system.

This post will be constantly edited for improvements and optimizations!

Cant find anything to pick fault with there, rather impressed. Cant see it happening, as would make high level power army play genuinely sustainable without collector boost or bulk resource gem.

Whilst I applaud any suggestion to address the poor economy, I think this is a bit complicated.

I would also draw attention to the dreaded network disconnect issue which would be amplified greatly if significant loot could also be lost. I suffer network disconnects a few times a day whilst at home on my 80mbs WiFi network. So I guess some people have it worse than me...If I was alos losing 100s of k of resource in these situations, I'd be rather angry.
